COGINCHAUG 2, LYME-OLD LYME 1 (2 OT) >> Victoria Buonanni scored the game-winning goal with eight minutes and 12 seconds left in the first overtime as the Blue Devils (5-0) remained unbeaten with a key SLC win at Durham. Morgan Kuehnle had the assist on Buonanni’s goal. Alison Luther notched the Blue Devils’ other goal, while senior goalkeeper Kara Mather made nine saves.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season,” said Coginchaug coach Megan Kavanaugh.
Jessica Lee had the Wildcats’ goal, while Tori Sims made 11 saves for Old Lyme (1-3-1).
East Hampton 1, Haddam-Killingworth 0 >> Sophomore Kayla McLaughlin netted the game-winning goal in the 54th minute to lift the host Bellringers past the Cougars. Sophomore Katie Williams had the assist on McLaughlin’s score. Junior goalkeeper Allison Bristol made two saves for East Hampton (5-0-1). Megan O’Brien made six saves for the Cougars (2-3-1).
PORTLAND 5, CROMWELL 1 >> Madison Bond scored two goals and Amanda Ghent had one goal and two assists to lead the Highlanders Monday night at Portland. Jackie Otake had one goal and one assist, Nicole Caruso had one goal and Marisa Dimare made five saves for Portland (5-1). Talie Neves scored the Panthers’ goal with an assist from Emma Belcourt. Alexa Beauchemin made 12 saves for Cromwell (1-3).
VALLEY REGIONAL 5, WESTBROOK 0 >> Sydney Lee scored two goals and Sam Torrenti, Lindsey Wells and Michaela Lavy netted one goal apiece for the visiting Warriors. Ashley Sherman had two assists, while goalkeeper Sara Castelli preserved the shutout with nine saves for Valley (2-2-1). Allyson Schenck made 20 saves for the Knights (0-5).
HADDAM-KILLINGWORTH 3, HALE-RAY 1 >> The Cougars imporved to 6-1 with a 22-25, 25-14, 25-19 and 25-18 SLC win at Moodus. Olivia Parmalee (10 kills) and Carly Church (23 assists) led H-K. Jordan Ziobron had 10 kills, five blocks, and 10 service points, while Eliza Burke had seven kills, three blocks and 13 service points for the Little Noises (4-2).
COGINCHAUG 3, LYME-OLD LYME 0 >> The Blue Devils swept the Wildcats, 25-15, 25-16 and 25-22 at Durham. Sydney Trusty had eight kills and eight aces, and Carolyn Fetchel had 28 digs for Coginchaug (3-2). Holly Fiscus had 10 assists and Megan Astley had eight digs for Old Lyme (1-5).
VALLEY REGIONAL 3, CROMWELL 0 >> The Warriors swept the host Panthers, 25-23, 25-15 and 29-27. Chloe McNeil had five kills, four aces and seven digs for Valley. Stefanie Hartnett had five kills and 10 digs for Cromwell (1-5).
XAVIER 1, HAMDEN 1 >> Tom Gardner’s goal midway through the second half lifted the Falcons to an SCC tie against the Green Dragons at Hamden. Joe McCormick had the assist, while goalkeeper Dan Miela made two saves for Xavier (2-0-3).
Tristan Mahan knocked in a header off a corner kick from Renzo Bermudez in the first half for Hamden. Matt Wilson made 12 saves for the Green Dragons (1-2-2).
VINAL TECH/EAST HAMPTON 19, WOLCOTT TECH 12 >> Ryan Fazzino gained 148 yards on 23 carries and scored three touchdowns, and Austin Mann rushed for 120 yards on 13 carries to lead the Bellhawks (1-1) Saturday afternoon at Wolcott Tech.
Tied at 12 in the fourth quarter, Fazzino scored on a four-yard run and Vincent Langenfield added the extra point kick.
MERCY 100, HAMDEN 84 >> At Middletown, the Tigers (3-1) got first place performances from Emily Devivo, Devan Corsini, Haley McLaughlin, and Meghan Hassett (200 medley relay, 2:04.55); Marly Carroll (200 freestyle, 2:16.96, and 100 butterfly, 1:09.54); Rachel Dziatko (200 IM, 2:32.2 and 500 freestyle, 5:53.75); Devivo (100 backstroke, 1:09.26); Corsini (100 breaststroke, 1:20.28); and Dziatko, Caroll, Haley McLaughlin, and Corsini (400 freestyle relay, 4:08.96).
