It’s safe to say Mike Francese is pretty familiar with his new team and role at Fairfield Ludlowe High School.
It was announced Friday that Francese will be the head baseball coach for the Falcons. He is taking over duties for Keith O’Rourke, who resigned in August to become the assistant principal at North Branford.
Francese has been an assistant coach with the baseball program since 2005 and knows the system and players.
“I am very excited to be given the opportunity to head up the Ludlowe Baseball Program,” Francese said. “Having being part of the program as an assistant coach since its beginning in 2005, I will continue working hard to coach our students athletes to be the best they can be on and off the field.”
Ludlowe is coming off an impressive season on the diamond where they finished with a 16-9 record and reached the FCIAC semifinals. O’Rourke led the Faclons to an FCAIC Championship in 2010. Francese will be just the second coach in program history.
“With the efforts of Our Coaches, Parents and Student Athletes the direction of the program has no limits to what can be achieved,” Francese said. “All I can hope for is continued success.”
