Thursday brought thunder and lightning, not just from a first-half pounding Shelton put on Trumbull, but from a mighty late-summer storm that wiped out the second halves of most western and southern Connecticut games.
On Friday, double rainbows glittered across the state. They shined on Southington as it rallied back to beat Glastonbury late in its CCC game. They shined on Derby, which rallied from 18 down to beat Logan Marchi and St. Paul. They shined on East Haven which rallied back to beat Bassick.
Ansonia’s Arkeel Newsome continued to obliterate the record books.
But we’re far from done with Week 1. Games today, games Sunday, including the thrilling conclusion to the SCC-FCIAC challenge.
The biggest game on the docket Saturday might be in Trumbull where St. Joseph takes on Notre Dame-West Haven today 1:30 p.m. The SCC has taken an 8-5 lead over the FCIAC in the 17-game crossover. A victory by any SCC today will clinch the Week 1 Challenge, although there are plenty of SCC-FCIAC games remaining on the 2013 schedule.
