The Fairfield American Little League baseball team prepares for the biggest stage to date this summer, the New England Regional Tournament in Bristol starting on Friday night at 8:15 p.m. against Vermont at Breen Field.
The team of 11 players has assembled an impressive 12-1 record together. Head coach Mike Steed credits the chemistry and cohesiveness of the unit for part of the success.
But just how far back does that chemistry go? And when did it first start?
All 11 members played together last summer when they won the state title.
In the video clips, Fairfield is in the black jerseys with red hats, and compiles a number of games they played during the summer of 2010 when they were 8-year-olds.
Steed managed the Fairfield American Black All-Stars, which included Brian Howell, Jack Steed, John Reynolds, Sam Davenport, PJ Egan and Brian Kiremidjian.
The video below of the group is a Coach Pitch Tournament at Unity Field in Trumbull with Steed as manager. This was the only tournament available at that age at the time for 8s in District 2.
Fairfield is again in the red hats in the video.
