LITCHFIELD >> Wamogo (9-6) helped keep Berkshire League standings churning with an 11-10 walk-off win over Northwestern in the bottom of the seventh inning at Wamogo High School Wednesday afternoon.
The Warriors, rallying from a four-game losing streak, built a 10-5 lead over the Highlanders (10-5) through five innings, led by Jordan Bergs (2 hits, double, 4 RBI), Nick Michanczyk (2 hits), Pete Schneider (2 hits), Matt Rollins (2 RBI) and Emmett Wojtczak (2 RBI).
Northwestern produced five runs in the top of the sixth for the tie, behind Devin Warren (3 hits, 4 RBI), Joe Columbie (4 hits, 3 runs), Bryce Ramsay (2 hits),
Jason Reola (2 hits) and Vin Tancreti (3 RBI).
Wamogo reliever Garrett Coe blanked the Highlanders in the top of the seventh.
In the bottom of the inning, Wojtczak reached on a throwing error, replaced by pinch runner Nick Crowley.
Schneider lay down a sacrifice bunt; the throw was wild. Crowley raced home with the winner.
Kaynor Tech 9, Wolcott Tech 8 >> In a spellbinder at Fuessenich Park, Panthers pitcher Richard Hawk struck out 7 Wildcats, then went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs at bat. Pat Hughes added a triple for Kaynor Tech (9-6).
Jimmy Lamanna (4-for-4, home run, triple, 4 RBI) and Matt Sokol (3 hits, run) did all they could to keep it close for the Wildcats (10-7).
Housatonic 7, Terryville 4 >> Scott Dignacco held the Kangaroos to 4 hits in a complete game at Terryville High School, scoring two runs at bat.
John Grimes led the Kangaroos, 3-for-4 with an RBI and 2 runs.
The Mountaineers are 5-9; Terryville is 5-8.
Litchfield 16, Lewis Mills 4 >> After searching for their first win for much of the season, the Cowboys (3-12) have roared to life. Tuesday, they stunned second-place Thomaston with their second win. Wednesday, they bombed the fifth-place Spartans with 19 hits.
Zach Waterfall, Christian Hudak and Griffon McIntyre had 3 hits apiece. Jared and Josh Gulmart, Matt Schweter and Cal McKenna had 2 apiece.
McKenna struck out 9 Spartans in a complete game on the mound.
Jared Czarnecki (3-for-3, 3 RBI, run) and Andrew Madden (2-for-3, RBI) led the Spartans (7-8).
Terryville 23, Housatonic 4 (5); Terryville 18, Housatonic 9 (5) >> Emmilena Russo led the Kangaroos with 4 RBI in the first game of a double header. Amy
Ieronimo had 7 RBI in the second.
Ieronimo finished the day with 6 hits; Ariana Katiewicz had 5.
Wamogo 10, Northwestern 9 >> The red hot Warriors led 10-1 at Northwestern after four innings, then held on as the Highlanders scored eight unanswered runs in the last three innings.
Savannah Wheeler did much of the damage for Wamogo with a grand slam home run and a double. Cyrena Zamaitis was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Despite 10 strikeouts by Zemaitis, the Highlanders held their own at bat. Sarah and Molly Hale each went 2-for-3 ; Katie Wald was 2-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBI; Marissa Swartley had a double.
Nonnewaug 22, Gilbert 5 >> Arianna Laracuente (4 hits, home run, double, 4 RBI, 4 runs); Maiya Wendel (5-for-5, double, 3 RBI, 5 runs); and Marisa Valente (3 hits, triple, 3 runs) led the Chiefs (11-3) in Winsted.
Shelby Gumper (3 hits, 3 RBI), Liz Wexler (3 hits, run) and Brianna Schlosser (triple) produced for the Yellowjackets (3-11).
Wamogo is 13-2; Northwestern, 9-6.
Thomaston 18, Shepaug 9 >> The Golden Bears showered 22 hits at Dick Ayer Field. Gabrielle Hurlbert (5 hits, 3 doubles, triple, 4 RBI, 3 runs); Alexa Milius (3 hits, 2 triples), 2 RBI, 2 runs); Morgan Sanson 4 hits, double, triple, 3 RBI, 2 runs); and Katie Everett (3 hits, 2 doubles, 2 RBI, run) led the charge.
Paige Johnson (2 hits, 3 RBI), Maribeth Seeger (2 hits, double, run); and Giana Johnson (RBI, 2 runs) held out for the Spartans.
Lewis Mills 13, Litchfield 1 >> The Spartans closed out with 7 runs in the seventh inning at Litchfield. Amanda Sullivan (2-for-4, 3 RBI, 2 runs), Coral Gorack (2-for-2, 2 doubles, 2 RBI, run); Amiee Carrier (3-for-3, RBI, 2 runs); Alexandra Pelchar (3-for-3, 2 RBI, 3 runs); and Chloe Brzoska (2-for-3, run) led the parade.
Tori Tompkins was 2-for-2 with a triple and a run for the Cowgirls.
Housatonic 3, Lewis Mills 2 >> Jonathan Miller, Pat Considine and Max Vadakin/Mo Elserafy kept Housatonic undefeated (12-0) in a match at Housatonic High School
Bo Omuraliev and Chris Soliani/Jon Groleau won for the Spartans (7-6).
Wamogo 3, Gilbert 2 >> Mike McCarthy, Matt Kusaila/Brendon Mansaku and Dan DiMaria/Zach Hovey tilted the scales for the Warriors (4-8) at Wamogo High School.
Austin Stoeke and Jim Wang won for the Yellowjackets (2-11).
Northwestern 4, Thomaston 1 >> Grant Scherling, Spencer Dixon, Avery Nelson and Reg Denny/Elias Olsen won for Northwestern (5-8).
Josh Gallo/Jake Grasson took first doubles for the Golden Bears (2-10).
Nonnewaug 4, Litchfield 1 >> Charlie Shanks took first singles for the Cowboys (7-4) in Woodbury. Andrew Ray, Jacob Matta, Aneesh Mistry/David Gow and Garrett Lawlor/Max Lovig ran the rest of the table for the Chiefs (12-0).
Wolcott 9, Torrington 0 >> The NVL defending champion Eagles (13-0) beat Torrington (11-2) for the second time this season. Matt Spina, Matt Mastropietro, Jay Caggiano, Alex Hale, Ryan Collins and Jackson Yost won the singles at Torrington High School.
Spina/Mastropietro; Mike Perreault/Raheel Chowdhury; and Ryan Watts/Quasim Gondal won the doubles.
Litchfield 169, Gilbert 215, Wamogo 228 >> Litchfield’s Nathan Leigh and Donnie Protzmann shared medalist honors with Gilbert’s Conor Bailey with 41s at par-35 Litchfield Country Club.
The difference for the Cowboys came with Chris Parsons (42), Chandler Boucher (45) and Tom Simoncelli (45).
