SEYMOUR >> Torrington girls volleyball team, beaten by just two teams last year – Woodland and Seymour – now has payback against both. With a 3-0 win over Woodland earlier this season, 6-0 Torrington went to Seymour Friday night, returning with a 3-1 (17-25, 27-25, 25-9, 25-23) win over the Wildcats, who went undefeated in the league a year ago.
Lauren Gaghan (9 kills, 3 digs); Jolie Fox (7 kills, 3 block); Jayleen Colon (25 assists, 2 kills, 9 digs); and Ali Dubois (15 digs) were the heroes for Torrington.
Faith Thurmond (14 kills, 5 blocks); Kaitlyn Esposito (9 digs); Shari Minalga (16 digs); and Sam Torres (9 kills, 14 blocks) led the Wildcats (5-1).
Lewis Mills 3, Medical Prep 0 (25-5, 25-11, 25-13) >> Samantha Furst (6 aces, 9 kills, 3 digs); Alicia Fornier (5 aces, 5 kills, 8 digs, 22 assists); and Alex Pelchar (5 aces, 7 kills, 9 digs) led the Spartans (4-3) at home.
Imani Rodado (10 assists); Piela Okanza (3 blocks); and Kim Orire (3 blocks) stood out for Med-Tech (5-2).
Gilbert 3, Cheney Tech 0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-10) >> The Yellowjackets (3-2) zapped the Beavers at Gilbert behind Ali Brochu (10 kills, 10 aces); Alexis Johnson-Blue (2 kills, 3 aces); and Elizabeth Wexler (13 assists).
Lewis Mills 7, Wamogo 0 >> Chloe Waldron, Cally Roy, Julia Robilard, Caitlyn Angers, Jazzy Sztyler-Magee, Hannah Anderson and Lindy Hoyt all found the mark at Wamogo for Mills second shutout in two days.
Platt Tech 2, Wolcott Tech 1 >> The Wildcats came close to toppling undefeated Platt Tech, but Juliano Pinto and Johana Campoverde carried the Falcons over the top.
Sierra McIlwain scored for Wolcott Tech. Wildcat goalkeeper Sarah Roussis had 12 saves as sweeper Lexus Jeroski had a great day in front of her.
Nonnewaug 7, Litchfield 0 >> Christina Sordi had three second-half goals at Nonnewaug. Azria Malloy scored twice. Mary Bibbey and Allison Green scored a goal apiece.
Green, Rachel Pieger, Krysten Rozzi, Bibbey, Libby Bennett and Carli LoPresti had assists.
Litchfield is 3-2; the Chiefs are 5-0.
Terryville 1, Northwestern 0 >> The Kangaroos (3-2) broke through a defensive battle at Northwestern (1-4) with a second-half goal by Jenna Covello.
Highlander keeper Gina Weingart had 10 saves; Terryville’s Maria Cesare had 8.
Shepaug 3, Gilbert 3 (OT) >> The Yellowjackets (1-3-1) and Spartans (0-3-2) fought to a draw at Shepaug Friday evening. Shepaug’s Noelia Aguirre and Gilbert’s Isabella Herskowitz tied it 1-1 in the first half. Spartans Cassidy Borger and Sofia Mancinone and Yellowjackets Marcela Moreira and Grace Valickis locked it up in the second half.
Northwestern 2, Terryville 0 >> In a tight game at Terryville High School, Highlander Jackson Dropick broke a 0-0 halftime score with two goals in the middle of the second half, just three minutes apart.
Northwestern is 3-2. Terryville is 1-3-1.
Lewis Mills 4, Wamogo 1 >> Wamogo’s Ryan DeLello gave the Warriors a brief lead midway through the first half at Burlington’s Nasahegan Field off a long punt by keeper Max Loomis.
Five minute later, Spartan sophomore Nick Lutrzykowski evened the score on an assist from Joe Fortuna. Then All-State senior Fortuna took over the game with the go-ahead goal in the first half and two more in the second.
Torrington 5, Crosby 0 >> Naseem Thompson scored three times at Torrington. Ben Vanotti and Kyle Secor had a goal apiece.
The Red Raiders are 3-1; Crosby is 2-3.
Shepaug 3, Gilbert 0 >> A goal by Connor Douskey and two more by Eammon Crossley broke the Spartans (1-3-1) into the winners’ column against the Yellowjackets (0-5).
Gilbert keeper Hunter Smith had nine saves.
Nonnewaug 3, Wamogo 2 >> Alex Eanniello (2 goals) and Maya Wendel (1) led the Chiefs (6-0) to a win at Wamogo.
Sydney Cardello and Hannah Lettau scored for the Warriors (2-2-2).
Canterbury 5, Westover 0 >> Emily Martino scored three goals, leading Canterbury (1-2-1) to its first win of the season. Sam Bouwman and Anna Orlando also scored.
Westover (Middlebury) is 0-2.
Thomaston 5, Housatonic 1 >> The Golden Bears (2-2-2) commanded the game 4-0 at halftime at Thomaston High School. Kaylyn Barbaret, Sabrina Parietario,
Alexa Kowalski and Emma Kociszewski all scored. Katie Everett popped in the final goal in the second half.
The Mountaineers are 0-5.

Naugatuck 3, Terryville 1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-16, 25-18) >> Martina Trovato (10 kills, 1 ace, 3 blocks); Katie Bedriaz (2 aces, 14 digs); and Alycia Calabrese (14 assists, 5 digs) led Terryville’s fight against the Greyhounds.
Lewis Mills 4, Litchfield 0 >> The Spartans (4-0) handed Litchfield (3-1) its first loss Thursday afternoon with goals by Chloe Waldron, Rachel Hedden, Alyssa Wrabel and Morgan Sokol at Litchfield.
Sydney Donahue had 15 saves for the Cowgirls as Mills took a 26-5 advantage in shots.
Bullard Havens 3, Wolcott Tech 2 >> The Tigers’ Alex Flores pumped in two goals at Torrington’s Bishop Donnelly Field; Ricardo Orea finished off the third for the win.
