LITCHFIELD >> Thomaston senior Morgan Sanson joined the 1,000-point club with 16 points in a 65-25 Golden Bear rout over Litchfield at Litchfield High School Wednesday night.
Junior center Casey Carangelo also had 16; Gabrielle Hurlbert added 10 for the undefeated Bears (4-0).
Amber Marino was high scorer for Litchfield (2-2) with 8.
Wamogo 29, Northwestern 21: The Highlanders (0-4) like a low-scoring game, but Wamogo’s Rose Kelly still managed 10 points against Northwestern’s vaunted match-up zone. Addie Hester led the Highlanders with 7. The Warriors are 3-1.
Lewis Mills 40, Terryville 23: Samantha Chadwick led the Spartans (2-2) with 12 points at Terryville (0-4). Joanna Johnson had 9 for the Kangaroos.
Lewis Mills 56, Terryville 29: Lewis Mills’ boys basketball team (2-0) took it to Terryville on defense as well as offense, with 13 steals and a balanced attack led by Jackson Lord (14 points) and Trent Millum (13 points).
The scorers also ruled the boards with 8 rebounds for Millum and 6 for Lord.
Ian Schmidt led the Kangaroos (1-1) with 12 points, including three 3-pointers.
Litchfield 52, Thomaston 42: Ryan O’Neill (22 points) and Cal McKenna (16 points) had the Cowboys (1-1) out front from a 16-7 first quarter. Thomaston’s Noah Daigle (14 points) and Justin Taylor (11 points) brought the Golden Bears (0-2) within five at the half, but Litchfield spurted again in the third quarter to tie up the win.
Shepaug 73, Gilbert 54: Shepaug’s Ryan LaMay and Clayton Schneider led the Spartans at home with all-around great games. LamMay had 28 points, 8 steals and 7 assists. Schneider checked in with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists.
Matt Coon had 17 for Gilbert. Jake Wendel and Garrett Lombardo had 12 points apiece.
The Spartans are 1-1; Gilbert is 0-3.
Northwestern 51, Wamogo 41: Alex Case continued his hot outside shooting with 16 points at home, including four 3-pointers. Jakob Fenn had 14 for Wamogo.
Gilbert 58, Shepaug 52: Grace Valickis led the Yellowjackets to their first win of the season (1-3) with 17 points at home. Deanna Delacruz had 12. Alie Brochu and Marcela Moreira added 10 apiece.
Caroline Kelly had 22 for the Spartans (2-2). Paige Johnson had 15.
Nonnewaug 42, Northwestern 30: David Dabkowski, Masen Williamson, Ed Boisits and Henry Helishorn had pins for the Chi9efs at Northwestern. Joey Pedrolini, Josh Schwartz and Caleb Boucher had pins for the Highlanders.
