TERRYVILLE >> Shepaug’s and Housatonic’s girls track teams finished in a 75-75 tie at Terryville High School Monday afternoon, while the Spartans overwhelmed Lewis Mills 103-43.
In the head-to-head competition between the leaders, Shepaug took all three relays, but Housatonic’s individual efforts balanced it out with wins by Emily Geyselaers (long jump, 100 meters, 400 meters, 200 meters); Lauren Gulderdale (shot put, discus); Abigail LaFontan (pole vault); Mari Cullerton (1,600 meters); and Eve Cullerton (3,200 meters).
Shepaug’s individual winners were Samantha Moravsky (high jump, javelin, 100 hurdles); Bianca Gomez (triple jump); Aileen Rosa (300 hurdles); and Emma Krebs (800 meters).
Thomaston 95, Wamogo 44; Thomaston 94, Gilbert 44; Wamogo 74, Gilbert 50 >> Thomaston swept the relays. Sami Brier (800 meters, 1,600 meters); Charlotte Eberhardt (3,200 meters, shot put); Casey Corangelo/Kendall Roman (high jump tie); Kendall Roman (triple jump); Camryn Capaldo (javelin); and Casey Corangelo (discus) added individual wins for the Bears.
Gilbert’s Ariene Blocuall (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles); Grace Valicus (200 meters, 400 meters); and Skyasahv Smith (long jump) won for the Yellowjackets.
Wamogo’s Olivia Norris won the 100 meters.

Wamogo’s individual winners were Brandon LeClair (1,600 meters, 3, 200 meters); Stanley Nerkowski (high jump, pole vault); and Matt Brady (shot put).
Nathan Hulton (110 hurdles, 300 hurdles); Sean Lockwood (100 meters); and Noe Gaudette (800 meters) won for Thomaston.
Gilbert winners were William Komans (200 meters, 400 meters, long jump); John Dakes-Rogers (triple jump); and Kyle Root (javelin, discus).

Housatonic 11, Nonnewaug 2 >> Housatonic’s Jacob Sphur went the distance at Housatonic High School, striking out 14 Chiefs while giving up just 4 hits and 5 walks.
Alex Vernali (3 hits, 5 RBI) and Connor Toffey (2 hits) led the attack.
Gilbert 3, Wamogo 1 >> Gilbert’s Ryan Sholtis held the Warriors to 2 hits while striking out 10 at Wamogo High School.
The Yellowjackets built a 3-0 lead behind Tim Smith (2 hits, RBI); Dylan Thomason (2 hits); and Garret Lombardo (2 hits, double, 2 runs) before Wamogo scored in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single by Nick Michanczyk.
Gilbert is 7-8; Wamogo is 9-7.
Terryville 6, Thomaston 5 >> Terryville led 4-0 after two innings at Thomaston High School, then put up 2 more runs in the fifth after the Golden Bears scored 5 in the third.
Terryville’s Doug Thorne stuck it out on the mound, with 9 strikeouts. Kangaroos John Grimes (2-for-4, 2 RBI) and Ian Schmidt (2-run triple) led Terryville’s run production.
Justin Taylor was 2-for-4, with a 2-run double; and Jared Kahn had an RBI triple for Thomaston.
Shepaug 8, Northwestern 3 >> The Highlanders led 3-2 at Ted Alex Field before the Spartans poured six runs across in the bottom of the sixth inning. Nick Fleming (2 hits, RBI, 2 runs) batted in the tying run for the Spartans. Austin Dutcher followed with an RBI single to take the lead.
Shepaug’s other big hitters were Clayton Schneider (2 hits, 2 RBI); Ethan Hibbard (2 hits, double); and Alan Stinson (2 hits, RBI, run).
Ryan LaMay pitched the complete game, giving up 5 hits while striking out 16.
