WINSTED >> Litchfield girls basketball surprised Northwestern with a 43-38 overtime win at Northwestern High School Tuesday evening.
With the game 37-all in regulation, the Cowgirls held Northwestern to a single point in overtime as they flew past with six.
Sam Foley (11 points) and Mary Spierto (9 points, 7 rebounds) led Litchfield’s effort.
Addie Hester (9 points, 13 rebounds) and Gina Weingart (9 points, 9 rebounds) led the Highlanders.
Litchfield is 2-4; Northwestern is 3-3.
Wamogo 67, Shepaug 46 >> Rose Kelly swooped in for 20 points at home to lead the Warriors (1-5) to their first win of the season, with major help from Cassidy Wilson (15 points) and Christina Roy (10).
Lucy Puskas had 22 points for the Spartans (0-6) followed by 12 from Olivia Moore.
Thomaston 63, Lewis Mills 43 >> Casey Carangelo (23 points) and Julia Quinn (20) led the way to a big Golden Bear win at Lewis Mills.
Samantha Chadwick had 19 for the Spartans.
Lewis Mills 64, Thomaton 52 >> Josh Schibi (22 points), Kyle Alvarez (14) and Jack Lord (10) led the Spartans (4-1) in a hard-fought battle at Thomaston High School.
Noah Daigle (17 points) and Jared Kahn (13) stood out for the Golden Bears (3-2).
Northwestern 55, Litchfield 36 >> Ben North (14 points), Jason Reola (12) and Zach Plitt (10) led the Highlanders (4-0) at Litchfield (2-3).
Wamogo 52, Shepaug 34 >> Garrett Sattazahn’s 18 points led the Warriors at Shepaug. Max Loomis had 17.
Eamon Crossley had 11 for the Spartans.
Bullard Havens 73, Wolcott Tech 38 >> Mitch Sorenson was high scorer for the Wildcats as Bullard Havens flexed its muscles at Wolcott Tech High School.
Housatonic 78, Gilbert 63 >> Ayden Zucco (21 points) and Jacob Shpur (20 points) combined for 9 threes at The Gilbert School to lead the Mountaineers (1-2) to their first win of the season.
Jake Royer had 19 points for the Yellowjackets (0-4). Steve Marshal and Riley Weiss had 10 points apiece.
