LITCHFIELD >> Litchfield beat Terryville 9-1 Friday afternoon in this year’s up-and-down world of Berkshire League baseball.
The Cowboys (5-13) started the season 0-11, only to become another of the league’s hot teams down the stretch, winning five of their last seven games.
Sadly, the streak started a game too late for their tournament chances, since they have just two games left in a regular season that requires eight wins for qualification.
Nevertheless, the full uprising at Litchfield High School Friday had to be consolation.
Griffin McIntyre allowed Terryville (8-10) just five hits in seven innings, striking out five. Cal McKenna and Nick Andro had two hits apiece in a 12-hit Cowboy barrage.
Terryville’s Shawn Fulton had three of the hits in a 3-for-3 day with a triple.
Thomaston 9, Nonnewaug 5 >> The Golden Bears ended a two-game skid with a win at Nonnewaug High School. Complete-game winner Justin Taylor struck out 8 Chiefs.
Taylor (2-for-4, 2 RBI, 3 runs); Jared Kahn (3-for-4, double, 2 RBI); and Jake Torrence (2-for-3, 2 runs) did the damage at bat.
Nonnewaug’s Max Pape was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run. Alex Reimold was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Berkshire League Championships >> Litchfield’s Alec Doty and Tristan Roveto beat Housatonic’s Max Vadakin and Mo Elserafy for the right to face Nonnewaug’s Aneesh Mistry and David Gow in Monday’s doubles finals at Litchfield High School Monday afternoon at 2 p.m.
The Chiefs beat Housatonic’s other doubles team, Justin Gomez and Moustafa Sakr in the semifinal round at The Hotchkiss School.
Singles matches at Hotchkiss got through the quarterfinal round. Housatonic’s Jonathan Miller and Nonnewaug’s Andrew Ray will meet in one semifinal Monday at Litchfield. Litchfield’s Charlie Shanks and Nonnewaug’s Dylan Kachur will meet in the other.
Litchfield 7, Wamogo 0 >> Lexi Honigmann, Tiffany D’Andrea, Sophie MacDonald, Caroline Donovan, Elena Kennedy/Margaret Hill; Corinne Casali/Claire Chapman; and Maggie Brady/Aaliyah Vescera beat the Warriors at Wamogo High School.
Lewis Mills 7, Northwestern 0 >> Kristen Agniletta, Jenna Gabrielson, Erica Robinson, Kayleigh Watson, Emily Burzynski/Kara Schatz; Abby Shafer/Olivia Gillette; and Carly Miceli/Gracie Colossale swept the Highlanders.

Wolcott Tech 5, Waterbury Career Academy 2 >> Wildcat pitcher Jenna Lemanquais had 11 strikeouts and 3 walks, allowing just 4 hits.
Madison Rubino (triple, run); Abby Armstrong (RBI); Morgan Rubino (2 hits); and Alicia Winn (2 runs) led the offense.
The Wildcats are 14-6 in the best regular season in Wolcott Tech softball history.
Waterbury Career is 15-4.
Shepaug 16, Gilbert 5 >> Shepaug’s Olivia Moore had a grand slam home run, a triple and 6 RBI in the win in Winsted. Hannah Lasky added 3 hits with a triple and 2 RBI. Annie Rosa had 2 hits with a triple.
