BURLINGTON >> The Lewis Mills football team had two touchdowns called back Saturday afternoon and still smacked Canton 28-0 at Lewis Mills High School.
The down side for the Spartans was a nullified 69-yard scoring run by Mike Cicarelli and a 28-yard scoring pass called back from Trevor Baker to Austin Holland.
The rest was all up.
Cicarelli still finished with three touchdowns in 11 carries for 194 yards. Baker completed a 42-yard scoring pass to Chris Romano.
Canton fumbled on the first play from scrimmage. The rest of the first half’s excitement was scoring runs by Cicarelli – 37 yards and 70 yards in the first quarter, 2 yards in the second.
Baker’s touchdown pass came in the third period.
Braedon Bean added 55 yards on the ground in 11 carries.
Mills, 2-1, hosts 2-1 Ellington next Saturday.
Canton, 0-3, sits out in its bye week.
Gilbert 3, Wolcott Tech 0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-18) >> Gilbert’s Ali Brochu had 13 kills and 4 aces at home. Deanna Delacruz joined her with 4 kills, an ace and a block; Elizabeth Wexler had a kill, 22 assists and 4 aces.
Morgan Rubino (8 digs) and Katie Benedict (8 assists, 3 digs) led the Wildcats.
Gilbert is 4-2; Wolcott Tech, 1-6.
Taft 1, Canterbury 0 >> Nina Garfinkel scored the game’s only goal midway through the first half at Taft (1-1).
Jami Procanik made 20 saves for Canterbury (1-3-1).
