LITCHFIELD >> Lewis Mills (7-1) overpowered Wamogo inside to hand the Warriors (7-1) their first loss of the season, 60-45, in a boys basketball game at Wamogo High School Wednesday night.
Mills stormed to a 19-7 first-quarter lead, then capped the win with a 20-8 third period.
Spartan center Josh Schibi led the scoring with 17 points, followed by Kyle Alvarez’s 16 and Trevor Baker’s 14.
Garrett Sattazahn and Max Loomis were high scorers for Wamogo with 15 and 10.
Mills’ only loss of the season came from non-league opponent Canton.
Terryville 53, Litchfield 35 >> Evan Dorso (19 points); Shawn Iwanow (13) and Mike Tiscia (11) led the way at Litchfield High School.
Jared Guillmart had 12 for the Cowboys.
Terryville is 3-5; Litchfield is 2-6.
Thomaston 70, Gilbert 40 >> Jzared Kahn (21 points); Noah Daigle (20 points); and Drew Colavecchio (12 points) outscored the Yellowjackets at Thomaston High School.
Northwestern 73, Nonnewaug 58 >> Mike Oley (17 points); Jason Reola (16); Ben North (12); and Zach Plitt (11) put up double figures at Northwestern High School.
Nate Firlings (15), Ryan Clear (15) and Jacob Matta (14) stood out for the Chiefs
Thomaston 66, Gilbert 38 >> Casey Carangelo’s 38 points matched the Yellowjackets’ team score at Gilbert. Julia Quinn added 11.
Liz Wexler’s 18 points were high for Gilbert.
Housatonic 61, Shepaug 35 >> Amanda Jacquier (18 points); Chloe Dakers (14); and Olivia Forstmann (12) led the rout at Shepaug.
Paige Johnson and Lucy Puskas had 9 points apiece for the Spartans.
Housy is 9-1; Shepaug is 0-10.
Torrington 83, Crosby/Waterbury Career Academy 73 >> Torrington swimmers won the first eight events, then stopped scoring in a rout at the Torrington YMCA.
The Red Raiders, now 4-0, had wins from TJ Dombroski, JT Barth, Curtis Ledda and Viktor Nemesvari in the opening 200-yard medley relay, then followed with individual wins by Jackson Keller (2), Bailey Clark, Nemesvari and Barth.
Terryville 48, St. Paul 30 >> Cayleb Leclerc, Josh Anderson, Jake Borda, Sean Ryan, Josh Wright and Jay Hume scored pins for the Kangaroos at Terryville High School. Jarrod Ashe added a win for an injury withdrawal.
Adam Ward and Matt Spar had pins for the Falcons.
Northwestern 39, Notre Dame-West Haven 36 >> The Highlanders took a close one at home with pins by Aiden Bannermann, Tyler Kreh and Gabe Schwartz and a decision by Caleb Boucher along with just enough Green Knight forfeits to put them over the top.
Jeff Bracale, Connor Massey, Christian Fillion, Brad Doyle and Nick Lozowski had pins for Notre Dame.
Housatonic/Northwestern 7, Tri-Town 2 >> The Mountaineers tied Tri-Town 1-1 in the first period, then exploded in the next two.
Erin Bushey had 3 goals, 2 assists; Finn Bambery 2 goals, 2 assists; Cam Wilhelm 1 goal, 1 assist; and Connor Toffey 1 goal, 1 assists.
Matt Murray and Nick Swanson combined for 17 saves.
Zack Roy and Jacob Stone scored the Tri-Town goals. Zack Vargo (14 saves) and Peyton Emrick (5 saves) played in goal.
