BURLINGTON >> Housatonic’s girls basketball team came to play at Lewis Mills Friday night in a 48-39 win over the Spartans.
The Mountaineers led by just two points at the half, but Emily Geyselaers (11 points) and Alison Holmes (10) led Housy through a 26-19 second half.
Samira Abdelrehim scored 13 for the Spartans.
Thomaston 64, Terryville 36 >> Casey Carangelo had a monster 33 points and 15 rebounds at Terryville High School.
Mikayla Descault had 8 points and 5 steals for the Kangaroos.
Gilbert 35, Northwestern 25 >> Liz Wexler (11 points) and Ali Brochu (10) led the Yellowjackets at home.
Gilbert is 7-4; Northwestern is 5-5.
Wolcott Tech 43, Abbott Tech 35 >> One night after a 50-point loss at Bullard Havens, the Wildcats turned it around for a win at home. Kaitusca DelaCruz led the effort with a monster game – 18 points, 22 rebounds and 5 steals. Madison Rubino added 8 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 assists. Katelyn Benedict had 6 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists.
Emily Sierra had 11 points for the Wolverines.
Wolcott Tech is 2-6; Abbott Tech is 3-8.
Lewis Mills 76, Houisatonic 35 >> The Mountaineers led by four at the end of the first quarter at Housatonic. Then the Spartan power kicked in with 28 points from Josh Schibi, 13 from Trevor Baker and 11 apiece from Kyle Alvarez and Jackson Lord.
Jacob Shpur was high man for Housy with 9.
Mills is 8-1; Housatonic is 2-5.
Northwestern 78, Gilbert 42 >> Ben North (16 points); Zach Plitt (13); Sheldon Green (13); Chris Nanni (10); and Jason Reola (10) lit up the gym at Gilbert for the Highlanders.
Robert Santiago (11 points) and Juan Sarmiento (10) were high scorers for the Yellowjackets.
Wamogo 50, Litchfield 42 >> A strong first quarter (16-8) carried the Warriors (8-1) through at Litchfield (2-7).
Garrett Sattazahn had 15 points; Max Loomis, 14; Eric Zappone, 13.
Jared Guillmart had 10 for the Cowboys.
Abbott Tech 54, Wolcott Tech 22 >> Nazeer Priar led the Wolverines with 22 points in Danbury. Freddie Espino added 11.
Abbott Tech is 5-4; Wolcott Tech is 0-10.
Terryville 63, Thomaston 55 >> Shawn Iwanow’s 17 points led three other Kangaroos in double figures at Terryville High School. John Grimes had 14 points along with 12 rebounds; Mike Tiscia, 13; and Evan Dorso, 10 in Terryville’s third straight win.
Jared Kahn (15); Noah Daigle (14) and Sean Fitzpatrick (12) led the Golden Bears in a game that saw the two teams trade runs in the second quarter – 6-0 Thomaston for a one-point lead, then 9-0 Terryville to take it back for good.
Thomaston is 5-4 overall; 4-3 in the Berkshire League. Terryville is 4-5 overall, 4-4 BL.
Housatonic/Northwestern 10, Newtown 4 >> The Mountaineers broke open a 5-3 game with five goals in the final period at The Hotchkiss School Wednesday night.
Finn Bambery had 3 goals, 2 assists; Erin Bushey and Cam Wilhelm had 2 goals apiece. Connor Toffey, Evan Wilkinson and Jack McAuliffe each added a goal.
Assists came from Wilhelm (2); McAuliffe; Justin Gomez; Anthony Robarge; and Nick Mierzejewski. Matt Murray made 17 saves.
Domenic Cartelli had 2 goals for the Nighthawks; Lucas O’Brien and Scott McLean scored the others. McLean and David Brestovanski had assists. Justin Halmose had 26 saves.
Houatonic/Northwestern is 8-2 after a late-Friday 7-0 shutout over Shepaug/Litchfield/Thomaston/Nonnewaug. Newtown is 5-2 after a 9-3 Friday night win over Mt. Everett (MA).
