Coach: Mike Fritch, 23rd year
Last Year: 23-2, NVL Champions
Key Losses: Paige Middleton, All-NVL G/F; Brittany Anderson, All-Iron Division F; Mia Barbieri, C/F; Shelby Howe, All-NVL-Tournament G; Taylor Howe, G; Kendra Covington, F.
Key Returners: Ashlynn Cook, 5-7 Sr. F; Alexis Tyrell, 5-5 Soph. G; Brie Pergola, 5-8 All-NVL, All-State G/F; Lindsey Mathieu, 5-5 Sr. G; Caitlyn Cornish, 5-8 Sr. C.
Outlook: For anyone else, the loss of much of the firepower and grit that earned the Red Raiders’ second NVL Championship in three years would be devastating. But Torrington is left with one of the best players in the state and a coach who’s spent 23 years and compiled more than 400 wins by getting great performances out of every team he has coached. The Raiders will be okay. Holy Cross and Kennedy get the starting nod in the league.
Coach: Gerry Hicks, 5th year back after previous 10 years
Last Year: 8-12
Key Loss: Sachelly DeLapaz, F.
Key Returners: Liz Wexler, 5-4 Soph. G (19.5 ppg); Deanna Delacruz, 5-11 Jr. C; Ali Brochu, 5-9 Jr. F; Grace Valickis, 5-6 Soph. G.
Outlook: The Yellowjackets qualified for the state tournament for the first time since 2007 after four wins in the previous four seasons, including one 42-game losing streak. Best of all, they did it with just nine players and one senior. That performance gives them plenty of hope for a solid season.
Coach: Frank Hadsell, 5th year
Last Year: 10-10
Key Returners: Hannah McGuire, Sr. (8.5 ppg, 7 rpg); Chelsea Kearns, All-BL Honorable Mention Sr. (8 ppg, 8 rpg); Amanda Jacquier, All-BL Honorable Mention Jr. (9 ppg, 5 apg); Chloe Dakers, All-BL Second Team (9 ppg, 5 apg); Lauryn Wilks, Sr.; Kailyn Riley, Jr.; Mara Dorey, Jr.; Emily Geysalaers, Soph.; Allison Holmes, Soph.
Outlook: Good team speed. Hope to finish in the top four of a very competitive league with Thomaston on top.
Coach: Joe Capitani, 5th season
Last Year: 17-7

Outlook: The two graduates accounted for 50 percent of Mills’ scoring last year. Young, but have great chemistry and a nice balance between size and speed. The league is the most competitive it’s been in years, but Thomaston is a step ahead.
Coach: Brian Mongeau, 1st year
Last Year: 3-17
Key Loss: Zoe Welk
Key Returners: Elena Kennedy, Jr.; Sophie MacDonald, Sr; Maddie O’Neil, Sr.; Samantha Foley, Jr.; Emily Dragan, Jr.
Outlook: Mongeau is a proven coach with the Cowgirls soccer team who’s capable of working minor miracles with the Litchfield basketball team as well.

Exciting Newcomers: Mary Bibbey, 5-8 Soph. G; Jen Charette, 5-7 Soph. G.
Outlook: New players, new opportunities in the league for the only team to beat Thomaston last year (by one point). Several of the Chiefs played AAU in the summer.
Coach: Fred Williams, 38th year
Last Year: 10-10
Key Losses: Starters Emma Beltrandi, F; Amanda Soltis, G; Kelsi Hodgkin, F
Key Returners: Abby Nelson, 5-7 Jr. F; Katie Wald, 5-0 Jr. G; Sydney Shaffer, 5-3 Jr. G; Marissa Swartley, 5-4 Jr. G; Erika Swartley, 5-3 Jr. G; Addie Hester, Soph.; Morgan Daley, Soph.
Outlook: Williams likes his depth, but the Highlanders need a new way to score after the departure of Beltrandi.
Coach: Karen Puskas, 3rd year
Last Year: 13-7 BL; 13-9 overall
Key Loss: Kelsey Johnson, F
Key Returners: Caroline Kelly, 5-10 Sr. All-BL C (16 ppg; 14 rpg; 5 bpg); Sam Moravsky, 5-6 Sr. All-BL Honorable Mention G (10 ppg; 6 apg).
Exciting Newcomers: Olivia Moore, 5-8 Soph. G/F; Avery Serra, 5-3 Soph. G.
Outlook: Caroline Kelly should be a dominating force in the league again. She and Moravsky, the team’s only seniors have to lead because the rest of the roster includes one junior and several sophomores and freshmen.
Coach: Damian Coggshall, 6th year
Last Year: 2-18.
Key Losses: Emma Caisse, F; Esther Johnson, G
Key Returners: Joanna Johnson, 5-6 Jr. G; Zoe Jabs, 5-6 Jr. F; Makayla Descault, 5-2 Jr. G; McKenzie Huria, 5-8 Soph. G; Martina Trovato, 5-10 Soph. C; Brianna Hanlon, 5-8, Soph. G.
Outlook: Rebuilding. Thomaston favorite; Nonnewaug and Lewis Mills also strong.
Coach: Bob McMahon
Last Year: 23-3, Berkshire League Champion; Class S State Champion
Key Losses: Kathryn Miner, F; Sara LeVasseur, F.
Key Returners: Morgan Sanson, 5-8 All-State Sr, F; Julia Quinn, 5-3 Soph. G; Nicole Schaefer, 5-6 Sr. G; Danielle Genest, 5-4 Sr. G; Gabrielle Hurlbert, 5-8 Sr. G; Charlotte Eberhardt, 5-10 Sr. F; Camryn Capaldo, 5-8 Jr. C; Alexa Milius 5-4 Soph. G; Samantha Brostek, 5-5 Sr. G; Casey Carangelo, 6-0 Jr. C.
Outlook: The Golden Bears bring back virtually their whole team from last year’s second straight state championship. With the growth of last year’s role players, McMahon has 10 solid players. They lost a game to Nonnewaug last year by one point, but, despite McMahon’s concerns about the Chiefs among others, any league loss this year would be a surprise.
Coach: Kevin Crowley
Last Year: 6-14
Key Losses: Jane Fischer, G; Emma Caldwell, F; Hailey Squatriglia, G/F; Christine Jasonis, C; Megan McElhone, F.
Key Returners: Brooke Neller, 5-4 Sr. G; Emily Kupcho, 5-7 Jr. F/G; Danielle Tillmann, 5-9 Sr. F; Kristen Kandefer, Sr. G; Emma Weik, Jr. G.
Outlook: Neller is the go-to player. If she can rally her still-very-young teammates around her, the Warriors should be okay.
Constitution State Conference

Key Returners: Briana Boucher, Sr.; Taylor Wheeler, Sr.; Tanesha Peteresen, Sr.; Shelby Lafferty, Sr.; Alison Benson, Soph.; Sierra Banks, Soph.; Maddy Rubino, Soph.; Abbie Hanlon, Soph.; Morgan Rubino, Soph.
