SHELBY, N.C. — Jacksonville, Florida exploded for seven runs in the 10th inning to defeat RCP 8-5 in the second game of the American Legion World Series Saturday at Keeter Stadium.
The teams were tied 1-1 after nine innings, but the top of the 10th saw both teams score 11 combined runs. Jacksonville batted around and scored seven runs on six hits and one error.
Adam Genners hit a lead-off triple and Kyle Pausche followed with a two-run triple. Adam Reider added an RBI double and later scored what would be the eventual winning run run on a wild pitch.
RCP responded with four runs in the bottom of the 10th, and twice had the potential tying run at the plate, but couldn’t overcome the seven-run deficit.
Pausch led Jacksonville (39-7) with four hits. Reider finished with two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Lewis Langley and Chris Geisler had two hits apiece. Jacksonville had 15 hits overall.
Kevin Radziewicz led RCP (31-10) with three hits and Tommy Seaver had two hits and an RBI. RCP fell to 0-2 in Eastern Division pool play. Cory Baldwin and Alex Ramirez each had a hit and an RBI.
RCP’s Cole Ogorzalek pitched nine innings and allowed seven runs in the losing effort. He walked two.
Jacksonville’s Jesse Prather earned the victor with a nine-inning, six-hitter. He struck out four and walked four.
Cromwell faces Midland, Michigan in the final game of pool play Sunday at 5 p.m.
