Welcome back to a busy, busy, busy week of softball in Connecticut. The conference tournaments are well underway with the SCCs and FCIACs determining their championship participants and the state tournaments are just about to be released.
With so much going on, of course hosts Ryan Lacey and Sean Patrick Bowley still attempted to hop on for a quick mid-week podcast. This was recorded Tuesday afternoon, May 21, before the SCC, SWC and FCIAC semifinals were completed and before the NVL quarterfinals began.
Still, our guys do their best to take a look at what to expect when the state tournament pairings are released.
Our special guest this week is Norwich Free Academy’s head coach Bryan Burdick, whose team started off the season ranked and went 8-0 until running into East Haven in a non-conference game and lost, 5-1. It was the first of three losses over a four-game span against some of the state’s heavyweights, like Southington, South Windsor.
Burdick talks about how these tough non-conference games will prepare his team to navigate the upcoming Class LL tournament. He also talks about this week’s ECC tournament, which split into two beginning this season, and the Wildcats hope to win the title after last year’s crazy loss to Griswold in the championship.
