Housatonic/Wamogo football forfeits fourth straight, still holds hope for season

The Mountaineers have forfeited games against Lewis Mills, Coginchaug, Windsor Locks/Suffield/East Granby and now the Bears.

With two games left in the season against Nonnewaug on Nov. 23 and then against Gilbert/Northwestern on Thanksgiving, Nov. 28, the Mountaineers have no plans call it a season.

“No,” said Housatonic interim athletic director Anne MacNeil, when asked about whether or not they have discussed forfeiting the rest of the season. “We are seeing what we have week by week.”

The game against the Yellowjackets’ is the annual Berkshire Bowl between the two schools. This game is one that is historic and one that they want to play.

“We are hoping to play that day” said MacNeil. “We are hopeful because it is such an important game.”

The Mountaineers are now 0-10 on the season.
