This is an email sent in by Housatonic senior pitcher Willy Yahn
I hope this email finds you well. High school opening day is upon us so life is good!
I am a senior at Housatonic this year and I am continuing to collect baseball equipment for kids in Uganda this spring.
As you may remember from last year, I got the idea two summers ago while watching the Little League World series and hearing that the players from Uganda had no equipment but were still playing at a very high level.
Baseball is a growing sport in many parts of Africa. Call to Care Uganda is a non profit organization in Madison CT., and they are happy to have as much equipment for the kids as possible, many of whom are orphans.
The out-pouring of donations have been great! Thank you so much for the many of you who have already donated.
There are now several choices of how to contribute.
- Continue to contribute equipment
- Contribute to shipping costs by donating to Call to Care Uganda directly
- Consider purchasing a Call to Care t-shirt or bracelet sold at the Housatonic home games (proceeds go straight to shipping costs.)
If you could please spread the word that would be very much appreciated.
I am able to come to any of your schools to pick up donated equipment if that is OK with you.
Best of luck with your seasons and I look forward to seeing you on the baseball field!
Thank you. Sincerely, Willy Yahn
