Portland 8, Westbrook 0: After signing with Rhode Island College earlier in the day, Cole Peterson threw six shutout innings and hit a two-run home run to lead Portland to a Shoreline road win.
Peterson allowed two hits and Brendan Hickey pitched the seventh as the Highlanders (11-1) extended their winning streak to nine games.
Grant Collins and Brett Thivierge had run-scoring hits in the second inning, and Peterson followed with his home run for an insurmountable 4-0 lead.
Middletown 2, RHAM 1: Ryan Conklin drove in Phoenix Noble with the go-ahead run in the sixth to help Middletown to a CCC victory in Hebron.
Ryan Hurlburt pitched six innings for the win and Conklin got the save, striking out three in the seventh and stranding the potential tying run at second base.
Jack Passamano singled and scored a run and Noble doubled for the Blue Dragons (4-5), who halted a three-game losing streak.
North Haven 12, Xavier 7: Bryce Pill, Giancarlo Genovese and Bryce Hammen had two hits each in Xavier’s SCC loss at Buzzy Levin Field in Middletown.
North Haven scored five runs in the first inning off of Xavier starter Chris Sokol and led 8-3 after five innings, then put the game out of reach with a four-run sixth. The Indians (7-4) had 16 hits.
Pill scored three runs for the Falcons (6-6), who saw a two-game winning streak end.
Old Lyme 4, East Hampton 2: Old Lyme scored two runs on Alexander Riggs’ seventh-inning single to beat host East Hampton in a Shoreline Conference game..
East Hampton freshman starter Carter Scovill pitched well over 4 1/3 innings. He allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits and struck out five.
Dan Casio was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Bellringers (1-11). Liam Flanagan pitched 6 1/3 innings for the win for Old Lyme (7-6).
H-K 8, Coginchaug 5: Coginchaug scored five times in the first, but H-K starter Faith Torello shut down the Blue Devils the rest of the way for a Shoreline Conference win in Durham.
Ella McGlynn hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning for the Cougars (6-5). They scored three times in the fifth to tie the game, and freshman Kat McQueeney’s RBI single in the sixth put H-K ahead for good.
McQueeney finished with three hits and two RBIs. Coginchaug fell to 7-4.
Cromwell 14, Morgan 1 (5): Jenna Masiello hit a grand slam in a three-hit day and drove in seven runs as the Panthers rolled to a Shoreline win at Peters Complex in Clinton.
Monica Dewey hit a solo home run and knocked in four runs as Cromwell (7-3) produced 17 hits. Jamie Anderson and Madison Tessmer had three hits each and Amanda McFarlin was 2 for 2 with three runs scored.
Winning pitcher Kaitlin Snyder held Morgan (4-9) to four hits.
Vinal Tech 22, Windham Tech 6 (5): Alexandra Henderson went 5 for 5 with two doubles, two RBIs and four runs scored as Vinal cruised to a Connecticut Technical Conference win in Willimantic.
Stevie Ricci went 2 for 4 with four RBIs and three runs scored for the Hawks, while winning pitcher Jalena Diaz and Olivia Coffren also had two hits each.
Abigail Young was 1 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored as Vinal improved to 7-3.
Amity 8, Mercy 0: Jamison Stanger, Kelly Smith and Sophia Nankee had the only hits for Mercy in its loss to Amity.
Kelly Pritchard and Jillian Ciccarelli had two hits each for Amity (7-3) and Pritchard pitched five innings of two-hit ball for the win. Mercy fell to 3-7.
Portland 170, Conard 173: Bryce Cote shot 37 at Portland Golf Club to earn medalist honors in the Highlanders’ victory.
Ben Kelley (43), Steve Fickett (46) and Tim Donoghue (44) also factored in the scoring for Portland. Garrett Brown and Max Leyland both shot 41 for Conard.
