Receiving contributions from numerous sources, the Greenwich High School girls volleyball team swept Trinity Catholic, 3-0, Wednesday at Eastern Middle School.
With the win, Greenwich raised its record to 14-2 in the FCIAC. They will most likely get the No. 2 seed in the upcoming FCIAC Tournament. Senior Tara Ford had seven kills and 10 digs, while senior Maggy Egan posted six kills and 11 aces for the Cardinals. Greenwich won the match, 25-5, 25-18, 25-11.
Senior setter Nicole Wood had 24 assists, six digs and two kills, senior Erica Hauschild added six kills, and senior libero Adnerys De Jesus had nine digs, five kills and two aces.
Greenwich hosts Holy Child on Friday.
GREENWICH ACADEMY VOLLEYBALL
The Gators lost to Loomis Chaffee School, 3-1. Loomis won the match by set scores of 25-8, 25-11, 19-25, 25-20.
Erin Jacquiery had 17 digs and 12 serve receives, while Katie Miele had six kills for GA (2-10). Evie Kay Girard added five kills and 13 digs, while Casey Gottlieb contributed 15 digs and four kills for Greenwich Academy.
Grace Ryan (six assists, five aces) and Valeska Lasky (eight assists) also paced the Gators.
SACRED HEART SOCCER
The Tigers were edged by FAA foe Rye Country Day School, 1-0. Tatiana Fernandez scored the winning goal in the 55th minute.
Julia Spiegel was solid in goal for Sacred Heart, making nine saves.
“It was a tough game,” Sacred Heart coach Stuart Smith said. “We played good soccer, trying to creat opportunities. We just didn’t create enough chances to win the game.”
