Andrew Bell, South Windsor: Bell, a sophomore, dove to victory for South Windsor in its competition against Hall, earning 272.90 points.
Justin Finkel, Cheshire: Finkel produced a winning effort in the 100-yard freestyle in the Rams’ recent meet against Greenwich, finishing the event in 4:55.30.
Patrick Colwell, New Canaan: Colwell won the 200-yard individual medley (2:00.07) and the 100 butterfly (54.04) for the Rams in their matchup versus Darien.
Benjamin Daddario, Fairfield Ludlowe/Warde: The co-op squad received first-place finishes from Daddario in the 50-yard freestyle (24.08) and 100 butterfly (59.54) in a victory over Danbury.
Donald Frost, Xavier: Frost finished first in the 100-yard butterfly (54.92) and was part of Xavier’s winning 200 freestyle relay (1:31.77) and 400 freestyle relay (3:27.68) teams against Amity.
Sam Hanke, Cheshire: A senior, Hanke was the 200-yard freestyle winner for the Rams in their meet against Greenwich, posting a time of 1:45.94. He also touched the wall first in the 100 backstroke, recording a time of 53.30 seconds.
Ben Howell, Xavier: Howell, a senior, registered a winning time in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.10) and helped spark Xavier to first-place finishes in the 200 and 400 freestyle relay events in a meet vs. Amity.
Ryan Jee, Greenwich: Jee, a sophomore, won the 200-meter freestyle (2:03.06) and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:14.37) for Greenwich in its win against host Staples. He also swam on the Cardinals’ winning 200-meter freestyle relay team, which placed first in 1:41.73. Against Cheshire, Jee finished first in the 200-yard individual medley (1:58.22) and had the top time in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.87).
Jack Jee, Greenwich: Jee, a senior, placed first in the 100-meter backstroke in the Cardinals’ 99-82 victory against Staples. He clocked in at 1:03.45.
Nathaniel Kwait, Fairfield Ludlowe/Warde: Kwait swam to victory in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.32) and 500 freestyle (5:19.99), as Ludlowe/Warde defeated Danbury, 94-77.
Justin Lessing, Staples: The junior finished first in the 50-meter freestyle in Staples’ matchup vs. Greenwich. He registered a time of 25.01 seconds.
Connor Martin, Darien: Martin notched first-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:49.04) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.12) for the Blue Wave in their 113-73 victory over FCIAC rival New Canaan.
Andrew Mitchill, Xavier: Mitchill posted first-place finishes in the 200-yard individual medley (2:02.57) and the 100 freestyle (49.88) for the Falcons, which defeated Amity, 100-81. He also helped key Xavier’s winning 200 medley relay (1:42.06) and 200 freestyle relay (1:31.77) squads.
James Pascale, Greenwich: Pascale topped the competition in the 100-yard butterfly (51.85) and was part of the Cardinals’ winning 200 medley (1:38.02) and 200 freestyle (1:31.68) relay teams in squad’s win against visiting Cheshire.
Gianfranco Pozzolini, New Canaan: Pozzolini placed first in the 100 freestyle (50.80) and the 100 backstroke (56.22) for New Canaan against Darien.
Carson Raisner, Hall: Raisner continued his fine freshman season for Hall, winning the 100-yard butterfly (57.25) and the 100 backstroke (1:00.95) in the squad’s 100-84 triumph over South Windsor. He also swam on Hall’s first-place 200 medley relay team, which combined for a time of 1:47.38.
Tyler Roy, Amity: A senior, Roy won the 50-yard freestyle race for Amity in its match against rival Xavier.
Joel Satir, Greenwich: In the 1-meter diving event against Cheshire, Satir totaled 270.15 points, good for first place. Greenwich went on to defeat Cheshire in the first-ever meeting between the two squads, 130-56.
Daniel Savidge, South Windsor: Savidge was a double-winner against Hall, placing first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:03.71) and the 500 freestyle (4:57.81). He also helped the team’s 400 freestyle relay squad post a winning time of 3:41.13.
Shayne Simmons, Danbury: Simmons paced the Hatters in its meet against Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe, winning the 200-yard individual medley in 2:00.08 and the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:01.38.
Andrew Sun, Hall: Sun earned the top time in the 50-yard freestyle (23.45) seconds in a meet vs. South Windsor. The junior also competed on Hall’s winning 200 medley (1:47.38) and 200 freestyle (1:38.86) relay teams. Hall won the meet, 100-84.s
Riley Twiss, Staples: Twiss, a freshman posted a first-place finish in the 100-meter butterfly (1:01.53) for the Wreckers in their meet against visiting Greenwich.
MEETS TO WATCH
Hall vs. Glastonbury, Friday, at Cornerstone Aquatics Center, 3:30 p.m.: Should be a good test for both squads, which are off to solid starts. Glastonbury, which finished sixth in the team standings at last season’s State Open, posted a 93-83 win vs. Hall in 2019.
Greenwich at Fairfield Prep, Saturday, 3 p.m.: The defending State Open and Class LL champion Cardinals and the Jesuits, an SCC power, have had a long-standing rivalry. The Cardinals enter the meet with a record of 6-0, while Fairfield Prep is unbeaten. Greenwich won last season’s meeting.
Cheshire vs. Amity at Orange Community Center Pool, Jan. 27, 6:45 p.m.: The Rams enter the meet with a record of 6-1, their lone loss coming in their first-ever matchup against Greenwich. Amity (3-3) lost to Cheshire last season, 105-75. It’s always a good rivalry meet.
Xavier at Fairfield Prep, Jan. 28: Xavier is rolling, having won their first six meets. Fairfield Prep was victorious in last season’s meeting, 111-74.
