Greenwich upped its record to 4-2 with a 5-2 road victory against Ridgefield in an FCIAC match held on Thursday.
In singles competition, Caleb Fockens posted a 6-1, 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot against Ridgefield’s Ramiro Davila. At the No. 1 spot, Brian Song of the Tigers edged Greenwich’s Justin Speaker, 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 in a match involving two of premier singles players in the conference.
Matthew Luzzi continued his strong season at third single for the Cardinals, defeating James Hovrinan 6-2, 6-2. Four singles saw Ridgefield’s Seth Prusko pull out a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 victory against Matthew Tamis.
The Cardinals swept the three doubles matches. Hayden Witmer/Nick Liu gave Greenwich a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at the No. 1 spot against Tadd Long/Noah Butler. At second doubles, Stefan Brovig/James Cosby from Greenwich came back to beat Joe Campos/Emmett O’Malley, 6-7 (6), 6-1, 6-3. Kian Jian and Jimmy Papas teamed up at the third double position for the Cardinals, where they won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.
Greenwich hosts rival Staples on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
