Another meet, another decisive win for the Greenwich High School boys swimming team.
The Cardinals improved to 9-0 with a 130-56 Senior Day victory against visiting Staples on Thursday.
The Wreckers won the meet’s first two events, but the Cardinals won eight of the remaining 10 races on their way to the win.
In the 200-yard medley relay, Staples’ squad of Austin Twiss, John McNab, Justin Lovro and Justin Lessing combined for a winning time of 1:41.60.
McNab came back and won the 200 freestyle for the Wreckers in 1:46.56. Freshman Ryan Jee gave the Cardinals a win in the 200 individual medley, touching the wall in 2:01.99.
Mark Merson of Greenwich was the 50 freestyle winner (22.82), followed by teammates Niki de la Sierra and Andres Ruh.
Sophomore Joel Satir won the 1-meter diving event for GHS, totaling 261.75 points. Greenwich sophomore Michael McNulty finished second.
In the 100 butterfly, Cardinals sophomore James Pascale took first in 54.13. Making his first appearance in the 500 freestyle, Stephan Todorovic won the event for GHS in 4:51.02. Lovro finished first for Staples in the 100 backstroke (54.61) and Jee won the 100 breaststroke (1:03.39).
McNab registered a first-place time in the 100 freestyle (48.31). In the 200 freestyle relay, Thomas Lewis, Charlie Clark, Mark Merson and de la Sierra were the winners in 1:31.38. The 400 freestyle relay saw Ruh, Pascale, de la Sierra and Todorovic post a winning time of 3:20.86.
Greenwich travels to Trumbull on Friday, then visits Ridgefield on Thursday for its regular-season finale.
