Tallying twice in each half, the Greenwich boys soccer team recorded a 4-2 win over Wilton in an FCIAC game held at Cardinal Stadium on Friday.
The Cardinals have one more regular season game — Monday at Fairfield Ludlowe. If they beat the Falcons they will secure the No. 2 seed in the FCIAC Tournament, according to coach Kurt Putnam. The FCIAC Tournament begins on Thursday.
In Friday’s game against Wilton, Francisco Liguori and William Flynn each scored first-half goals for the Cardinals.
Lucas Toro and Farid Ghaliya added second-half goals for the Cardinals, whose game against Ludlowe on Monday is 7 p.m.
GREENWICH HIGH GIRLS SOCCER
Receiving goals from seven different players, Greenwich coasted to a 7-1 victory against host Trinity Catholic in an FCIAC game held in Stamford on Friday.
Kelly Martyanov, Claudia Caruso, Sophia Bastek, KK Feureman, Kirsten Winn, Naomi Buccieri and Sofia DeVito each had one goal for the Cardinals.
Goalie Clay Garrett shut Trinity Catholic out in the opening half and Isabella Gega made three saves in the second half for Greenwich.
Up next for Greenwich is a game against Fairfield Warde on Tuesday at Cardinal Stadium. Greenwich needs a victory against the Mustangs to qualify for the CIAC Class LL Tournament.
