Placing three runners among the top four finishers, Greenwich Academy defeated seven FAA opponents at its final league regular season meet on Tuesday at Allen Meadow Park in Wilton and clinched the FAA regular season title.
Greenwich Academy edged Hopkins School, 29-30, and also defeated Sacred Heart Greenwich, Greens Farms Academy, Holy Child, King, Rye Country Day and St. Luke’s.
The Gators finished the season with a record of 20-1, while Hopkins went 19-2. Sacred Heart Greenwich placed third in the FAA regular season standings.
At Tuesday’s 3.15-mile race, GA eighth-grader Maddy Lee finished first with a time of 20:19.98. Teammate Emily Greenhaw, a sophomore, placed second overall, clocking in at 20:30.03. Freshman Ava Lillis of Sacred Heart was third (20:36.25), followed by GA junior Elena Tan (21:13.52).
Kaitlin Forman (21:41.95), Nana Dondorful-Amos (21:43.22) and Ava Maccaro (21:52.75) from Hopkins, placed 6-8th, respectively.
Jacquelyn Monahan (23:06.60), Olivia Berkery (23:11.91) and Elisa Howard (23:14.60) were 20-22nd, respectively, for Sacred Heart.
Emily Goodman finished 25th for Greenwich Academy in 23:25.82. Up next for Greenwich Academy, Sacred Heart and the FAA teams is the FAA Championships, which is scheduled to take place on Monday at Waveny Park in New Canaan.
BRUNSWICK CROSS COUNTRY
The Bruins went 4-1 at their final FAA meet of the regular season, defeating Greens Farms Academy, King, Rye Country Day School and St. Luke’s.
Brunswick lost to Hopkins School and finished in second place in the regular season standings. Hopkins won the FAA regular season title with a record of 15-0.
Nicolas Burtson won the race for Hopkins, crossing the finish line in 17:19.18.
Charlie Garland, a junior, finished second in 17:30.50, while sophomore Lucas Pombo was fifth in 17:38.78. Matty Goodman of Brunswick was 11th in 18:28.19 and Chris Ramos finished 13th (18:38.63).
Ryan Heinzerling, a senior, placed 19th in 19:10.04.
