Will Mallek, Fairfield Prep; Alex Gu and Calvin Smith, Darien: Mallek was the medalist, firing an even-par 36, but Gu and Smith both posted 37 to help the Blue Wave defeat the Jesuits in a match held at Country Club of Fairfield. Mallek added a 36 at Brownson CC as Prep beat Shelton.
Jackson Fretty, Greenwich: Shot a 2-under-par 34 at Sterling Farms GC to earn medalist laurels in the Cardinals’ victory over Trinity Catholic. Also had a 34 at CC of Fairfield in the Cardinals’ win over Fairfield Prep.
Gunnar Granito, New Canaan: Shot a 2-under-par 34, a career-best, at Silver Springs CC as the Rams edged Ridgefield.
Tyler Flood, Pomperaug: Shot a 1-over 37 at Heritage Village CC to earn medalist laurels in Pomperaug’s win against Newtown.
Ben James and Jackson Roman, Hamden Hall: James and Roman shot 33 and 38 at New Haven CC to help the Hornets hold off Kingswood-Oxford. Then Roman shot a 36, one stroke better than James, at the Course at Yale in a tie with St. Luke’s.
Tyler Woodward, Coginchaug: Shot a 3-under 33 on the back nine on the Lyman Orchards Jones Course to help the Blue Devils defeat East Hampton. Added a 35 on the same course in a victory against Rocky Hill.
Bryce Cote, Portland: Shot a 36 at Portland GC to help the Highlanders knock off Cromwell in Shoreline Conference action.
Matt Doyle, Hand: His 35 at Madison CC helped Hand handle Branford.
Mike Dolce, St. Paul: His 36 at Chippanee CC helped St. Paul defeat Naugatuck.
Alex Aurora, Hamden and Jake Ivan-Pal, Notre Dame-West Haven: Shot 36 and 37 on the Inner Nine at Race Brook CC as Notre Dame avenged an earlier loss to Hamden. Five players broke 40 in the match.
Kyle St. Pierre, Shelton: A 3-under 33 at Alling Memorial GC helped Shelton defeat Wilbur Cross and Career.
Miguel Pearce, Guilford: Freshman shot a 37 at Alling Memorial GC to help the Indians beat Career.
Sophia Sarrazin, Staples girls: Posted a 38 at Longshore GC to help the Wreckers edge Fairfield Warde.
Morgan Hibbert, New Canaan and Sydney Nethercott, Greenwich girls: Both shot 38 as New Canaan won the FCIAC match at CC of New Canaan.
Mia Hidalgo, Cheshire girls: A 33 at Westwoods helped the Rams beat both Lauralton Hall and St. Paul.
Alyssa Maiolo, Ridgefield girls: Her 37 at Smith Richardson GC helped the Tigers defeat Fairfield Warde.
MATCHES TO WATCH
Notre Dame-West Haven vs. Fairfield Prep at Race Brook CC, Tuesday, 2:45 p.m.: Two teams of many expected to be in contention in the SCC tournament in a month’s time. Will Mallek leads Prep while Tommy Rosati paces NDWH.
Southington vs. Simsbury at Simsbury Farms CC, Tuesday, 3 p.m.: Two of several teams in the mix for the CCC crown — and to fare well when the Division I state tournament rolls around.
Xavier vs. Hamden at Laurel View CC, Wednesday, 2:30 p.m.: The reigning two-time SCC champions come to Laurel View CC.
Farmington, Wethersfield vs. Avon at Blue Fox Run GC, Wednesday, 3 p.m.: Farmington and Avon are just two more teams in a stacked CCC. Expect that particular match to be very close.
Woodland Invitational at Oxford Greens GC; Greenwich Invitational at The Stanwich Club, Thursday: SWC teams Weston, Masuk and Barlow are among those teams coming to Oxford Greens GC, while Fairfield Prep and Brunswick come to one of the state’s toughest — and best — courses at Stanwich, hosted by the reigning Division I state champion.
