Foran’s biggest loss this season can’t be found in their current 3-3 record. New Haven Register All-State and All-Area selection
sophomore center Taylor Ceballos will miss the rest of the season to continue to rehab from a surgery she had this summer according to her father Robert Ceballos.
Ceballos was averaging 10.8 points through five games for the Lions, who suffered a 51-19 loss to Westhill in their first game without her. Top 25 senior point guard Teneya McLaughlin also did not play in the Westhill loss, out with a knee injury. Foran coach Scott Nails said it’s time for the role players to step up.
“No one person can replace (Taylor),” Nails said. “But, you’ve got to move on. There’s 12 people on the team. With an All-State caliber player, you don’t expect one person to pick up that slack.”
However, Nails said his main concern is his center’s health.
“We care about Taylor the person more than Taylor the basketball player,” the coach said. “Every kid should be okay, because there’s life after basketball.”
