Really? Notre Dame gets two 1st. Place votes? There’s no team in the state of CT close to Hillhouse. It’s disrespectful because last year the voters praised Sacred Heart. Even after losing two games out of state. This is rediculous, because most of the voters don’t even come out to see the games. So much for a hometown newspaper. Hartford Current shows so much love to Hartford schools when they are rolling. I can’t wait until Hillhouse meets Notre Dame so we can put this to rest already. Gametime is just building up the hype for a game that we may not even see this season.
Relax Francis. The only Poll that counts is the Final one.You should be curious as to why Notre Dame opted up to play in LL.Not sure they are in the same awe of Hillhouse that some people that live in New Haven are.
We can see them play twice! SCC chip and LL chip
Ridiculous
Sacred Heart also got two first place votes.
Funny thing is…he probably didn’t even get the “Francis” reference. That’s the fact, Jack!
They should be, in awe of New Haven players as four of their starters are from New Haven. LMAO!
Then why opt up ??
Because they have at least 3 division 1 players on their team including the best player in the state!!! That’s why you opt up…
Thank you for bringing that point up. Many kids in New Haven are recruited to play at private schools.
Now can you tell us who is paying their tuition?
We are getting closer to the truth about ND or do they really have a great diversity plan that we are not privy too.
Times have changed, maybe ND has also.
If u don’t think House recruits ur nuts
Who would those 4 be?
I respect the fact that they moved up,
Hopefully these teams will meet in the conference and the states. Hillhouse finished first in the final poll last year, pretty sure they are concerned about this team, that has won nothing in years.
Wilton D, I like your comment, “Pretty sure they are concerned about this team that has won nothing in years”, now that funny …. and true lol.
My bad , they finished second last year
ND better coaches.
That’s bull ,Hill houses assistant coach is one of the best tacticians in the state. His pregame prep and his is in game adjustments are of High basketball IQ.
Head coach is fantastic noticing talent and developing Talent. To compare these guys to the coaches at West Haven is ridiculous, just off the top of my head the present coaching staff at Hillhouse has won two championships and been to 4.
Isn’t the head coach a rookie? How are thier coaches better when they have not won anything.
West Haven? One really good team in their history. 1987 state champ beat Hillhouse in final. 30 years ago. I think I see where they’re going with this. NOWHERE!!!!
Support your unsupportable position name three instances the coaches in West Haven are better because it certainly has not translated into wins.
Just a reminder personal anonymous attacks are normally going to get flagged, like the one someone just tried to slip through. As hard as it may be for some of you, please try and keep things civil. Thank you.
Notre Dame has the best player in the state and all of a sudden, they jump in LL and now they get two first place votes.
When was the last time one player beat five on the basketball court?
Let’s see if ND stays in the LL next year after their star graduates or will they fall back into oblivion from whence they come….
BTW, the team that Hillhouse beat in the Bronx, Cardinal Hayes was undefeated and ranked overall number one in New York City.
Lets also see if Hillhouse Class M Champions will step up to Tier 1 in Football
Stop fantasizing, you have not played Hillhouse in football in 16 years and then only when forced to do so by the SCC. ND avoids Hillhouse and we all know it. Your Division 1 classification is a joke.
There is no rivalry between ND and Hillhouse!
ND recruited 4 players from New Haven, moved up to LL and then re-brand their basketball program as a dynasty?
PLEASE WAKE-UP! !!
We have 23 basketball championships! Your total sports history cannot match that numbuer. Don’t let your psychology be invaded by your dreams.
You will only end up sad in the seats at Mohegan Sun watching us play.
Do you even know where all your transfers came from this year ?
If you believe ND avoids Hillhouse in Football there is no debating you as you are most likely the only one that believes this.By the way where is it noted, besides inside your head, that ND is a Dynasty in Basketball ? As I stated if you are so uptight ND received 2 first place votes please get over it as they CHOSE a possible chance to square off with Hillhouse in the State playoffs. That is much more honorable than hiding and staying down in a lower class Tier for SCC Football.
To clarify for Mr. Ward the coaches I am speaking of are the coaches of notre dame.
A rookie coach with 3 wins, is better than a two championship winning coach, your assumptions are not fact based just your Hill House bias (not Mr Ward).
When Hilhouse has the 13th rated quarterback in the country transfer in before his senior year then I’m sure they would petition to go up if that’s possible in football.
Your lack of logic is defying.
It’s not possible in football.
Move in Football From Tier 2 to Tier 1 in SCC Football .I am sure the SCC would accommodate a team that has won a few State Titles in recent history. There is no Tiers in CIAC Football, only Class Size Divisions.Your lack of logic is defying.
I knew it wasn’t possible that was an attempt to satiate this person s defying lack of logic or rules.
The moderator of his blog stated clearly that the team cannot petition to move up in football in Connecticut
Rules.
@Real HH Fan
Please, please, please remove the chip off your shoulder and put it down, walk away from it.
I promise you your life will be more fulfilling and the people around you will appreciate it.
You seem to always be looking for some slight, some imaginary disrespect, in football and now carrying over into basketball.
It is sad cause every so often you provide real good insight into games and even compliment other teams.
You have much to offer, Hillhouse is looking strong in basketball just like they were in football.
Sit back and enjoy.
Notre Dame actually recruits kids from New Haven? I never heard that before. Do they go tuition free?
Go waaay back in New Haven basketball. Seen both teams 2x so far. Hillhouse is #1 which they deserve as defending champ with 4 starters returning, tenacious defense and very deep bench. At the same time, I see no disrespect with ND getting a couple #1 votes / ranked #2 by how they’ve played, having 4 future D1 players and arguably the best player in the state in Twaters. Major props for ND stepping up in class. This move shows ND wants to play against the very best and actually shows the respect ND has that a true champ runs through House. As fans, let’s not disrespect either team nor coaches. Instead, let’s celebrate that we have two powerhouse teams in greater NH area. I too wish they played in the regular season. Hopefully they will see each other in SCC or State. If and when they do, it will be something to see. In the end, I think the players will earn the respect of the other when they walk off that floor and know they beat someone special.
Finally, someone with some common sense!
With all 35 comments talking about how Hillhouse vs. Notre Dame blah blah blah, do people realize there are 8 other teams that are ranked in this poll, and I’d like to mention one of them:
How about Warde! Just 3 years ago this was a 2-18 team, and now they are #8 in the state! Instead of arguing about whether Hillhouse should be playing ND-West Haven in basketball, or moving up in football (what does that have to do with a basketball poll anyways) why can’t we discuss this poll?? Who might be overrated/underrated, why is New London 1-3 and still receiving votes, etc.
There’s a reason I usually only post on the girls poll even though I assist at a boys team! At least we can have a discussion over there without throwing insults at each other or school’s every other post.
… others in poll besides HH & ND. don’t sleep on Wilbur Cross. They’ll come ready to play House on Thurs.
Now that we all have been duly chastised by the two previous commenters let’s get back to arguing about sports.
It was stated earlier that nd has 4 Division 1 players I don’t see it no hate and no shame and no names but who are the four, they obviously have one but describe the others by position.
Cross cannot beat Hillhouse they are not well coached, they will choke as normal and I am a cross fan
No one has commented on warde is because they have not won anything yet except the Fairfield County championship in the regular season
No one has commented on Sacred Heart also receiving two votes because there is no interest in them this year they will not play anyone of note in the state and only moved up by force, Crosby hasn’t looked that strong this year at all.
Here are the four ND players. Tremont Waters, Shooting Guard, Ranked #31 ESPN Georgetown commit, Jalanni White, 6’7 Center with offers on the table from St. Peters, Canisius both D1. To be accurate, the other two are rising d1 prospects in Tim Dawson, junior point guard and Connor Raines only Soph (with upside) 6’5 plays 3-guard who torched Prep with 31 — can shoot it or take it to rim. As stated, I’ve seen both HH / ND 2x now. Def not here to hype ND, but these boys are a legit contender.
So they thought they would go out and buy a state title. Let’s see what happens next year
With the exception of Waters, all three boys have been at ND since Freshman year and all have earned their spots ontalent and talent alone. Lets not take away from the skill of the boys by trying to shame High schools for having students from other towns. you have no data to back up your attacks on ND other than that these boys reside in other towns. guess what 85 percent of ND is made up students from other towns. Baseless claims make your comments erroneous.
Congratulations to those young men and great job also thank you for the information
To be fair, ND is a private school. They recruit students or they would cease to exist as an institution of learning. If some of the students happen to be athletes, so be it, but if anyone thinks they are recruiting to specifically win a state title that is far fetched to me. Academics come first and they have to maintain certain grades in a College Preparatory setting. I have no affiliation with ND just so you know. I considered sending my son there, but after attending Hamden’s open house and seeing the diversity that seems more like the real world, helped us choose Hamden. Not the choice for everyone, but so far, it was an excellent choice for us.
