Bunnell junior Maximus Edwards became the school’s all-time leading scorer on an ally-oop dunk in the third quarter and finished with a game-high 28 points as Bunnell pulled away from Newtown in the SWC quarterfinals Friday in Stratford. 

Edwards eclipsed former all-stater Isaac Vann’s record of 1,468 points set in 2014.

Eli Alexandre scored 16 points and Khalid Moreland had 15 for the No. 2-seeded Bulldogs, who advanced to Monday’s quarterfinals to face No. 6-seeded Kolbe Cathedral.

Robert Disibio led No. 7-seeded Newtown with 13 points.
