Middletown 93, Avon 85 >> Powered by a pool record swim in the 400 Freestyle Relay event, the Bue Dragons defeated Avon Friday afternoon at Middletown. Senior Robert Baran, senior Michal Ciebielski, sophomore Jack Doherty and junior Matt Dagenais set a new pool mark while winning the 400 Freestyle Relay in a time of 3 minutes and 25.38 seconds. Senior Sam Clark (100 Breaststroke, 1:08.53), freshman Tim Joy (500 Freestyle, 5:30.07) and senior Lance Timmons (100 Backstroke) also lowered their times on Friday as Middletown improved to 6-2.
Xavier 61, Guilford 12 >> The No. 3 Falcons improved to 20-3 with an SCC Division A victory Wednesday at Guilford. Xavier got points from Pat Moynihan (106, pin), Connor Gilbert (113, forfeit), Pat Precourt (120, decision), Tom Fredricks (132, pin), Will Chowanec (138, pin), Quinn Marino (145, decision), Tyler Kenney (152, pin), Brendan Butler (160, decision), Seve Burgos (170, decision), Colin Cunningham (182, pin), Chidi Broderick (220, forfeit) and Paul Martorelli (285, forfeit).
East Hampton 72, Hale-Ray 39 >> Colin Parks scored 17 points, while Jake Vickery and Matt Vasquenza each had 13 points to lead the host Bellringers Friday night. Marvin Gorgas added 10 points for East Hampton (11-2), which led 47-19 at halftime. Craig Botteon had 14 points and Jason Traceski chipped in nine points for the Noises (2-11).
Valley Regional 80, Morgan 49 >> Junior forward Chris Jean-Pierre had 33 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to lead the Warriors to their eighth straight win Friday night at Deep River. David Bradbury had 17 points and Jake Luster had 11 points and six assists for Valley (10-2). Chucky Kostek had 13 points for the Huskies (3-9).
Mercy 68, Hamden 21 >> The No. 2 Tigers built a 38-11 halftime lead and rolled to their 20th consecutive victory Friday night at Middletown. Maura Fitpatrick led all scorers with 22 points. Kendra Landy had 10 points, while Sarah Gallo and Taylor Fascione each had eight points for Mercy (16-0). Olivia Wilson had seven points for Hamden (3-12).
Haddam-Killingworth 81, North Branford 51 >> Lauren McCann scored 32 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the visiting Cougars in this Shoreline Conference victory.
Maya Savino added 14 points for H-K (12-3). Justin Johnson scored 13 points and had nine rebounds and Sabrina LeMere scored 19 points and had five assists and three steals for the Thunderbirds (4-10).
Morgan 47, Valley Regional 17 >> Sami Ashton scored 12 points for the visiting Huskies in this Shoreline Conference win in Deep River. Josie Sullivan added 10 points for Morgan (13-1). Kiernan Decker scored seven points and grabbed 17 rebounds for the Warriors (3-10).
Cromwell 51, Old Saybrook 36 >> Janelle Harrison led all scorers with 24 points to lead the visiting Panthers. Emma Belcourt had 11 ponts, while Mya Villard chipped in 10 points for Cromwell (14-1). Mia Neas scored 20 points and had eight steals, while
Paige Trabucchi grabbed eight rebounds for Old Saybrook (8-6).
