East Hampton 1, Cromwell 0 >> Senior righthander Marvin Gorgas fired a no-hitter while striking out 16 and Alex Meeker delivered a two-out, game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh as the Bellringers (7-1) handed the Panthers (8-1) their first loss of the season Friday at East Hampton.
“(Gorgas) had pretty good stuff early and once he settled in we knew he was going to be on,” said Bellringers coach Scott Wosleger.
Cromwell senior Jake Regula struck out eight and allowed just four hits.
“Regula pitched a great game,” Wosleger added. “Both pitchers matched each other.”
Jake Vickery doubled to lead-off the bottom of the seventh. Regula then got a strikeout and pop-out before Meeker singled up the middle to score pinch-runner Tom Tuxbury with the winning run.
“It was two good teams going at it,” said Wosleger. “We were just fortunate to be the home team and have the last at-bat today.”
Haddam-Killingworth 6, Coginchaug 2 >> Griffin Bremer (5-0) struck out 12 and allowed just four hits to lead the Cougars at Durham.
Tyler Schuler had three hits, including a double, and Anthony Marino had two hits for H-K (7-1).
Charlie Anderson had two hits for the Blue Devils (2-7).
Portland 9, Old Lyme 8 >> Nick Adamsons had four hits, including a game-winning two run double in the bottom of the seventh, to lift the Highlanders Thursday at Dyer Field.
Hayden Manning earned the pitching win in relief for Portland (4-1).
Dave Peck had three hits for the Wildcats (3-4).
Vinal Tech 6, Wolcott Tech 5 >> Mike Pierpont’s single scored Ryan Fazzino with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as the Hawks rallied past the Wildcats Friday at Middletown.
Trailing 5-4, Brendan Winzer (2-for-3) was hit by a pitch with one out. Fazzino (3-for-4) had an infield single and Josh Mollica reached on an infield error that scored Winzer to tie it. After Justin Clark drew a walk, Pierpont singled to left to win it.
CJ Lemere earned the pitching win for Vinal Tech (5-2).
Wolcott Tech fell to 0-4.
Portland 1, North Branford 0 >> Nick Adamsons (2-0) allowed just three hits in a complete game effort to lead the visiting Highlanders (5-1).
Leo Thomas singled home Cole Ogorzalek with the winning run in the top of the sixth. Ogorzalek singled, went to second on a walk, and stole third before Thomas hit a sharp single to left.
Sean Halligan allowed four hits for North Branford (3-5).
Coginchaug 2, Haddam-Killingworth 1 >> At Durham, winning pitcher Gabby Diaz struck out six and allowed four hits, and Courtney Votto had a two-run single in the first inning as the Blue Devils remained unbeaten at 6-0.
The Cougars fell to 5-2.
Cromwell 7, East Hampton 6 >> Alyssa Poole hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh and the visiting Panthers held on for an SCC win Friday.
Winning pitcher Mallorie Leone and Taylor Polizonis each had two hits, while Megan Fazekas had a double for Cromwell (3-4).
Kaylie Ryan had three hits and two RBIs for the Bellringers (2-1).
Mercy 4, North Haven 1 >> Mary Adametz tossed a two-hitter, Juliana Dellacamera went 3-for-3, and Stephanie Mangiameli had an RBI double for the visiting Tigers (5-2).
The Indians fell to 2-6.
Valley Regional 16, Old Lyme 4 >> At Deep River, Emily Dona (3-for-4) homered, doubled and had four RBIs, while winning pitcher Michaela Lavy struck out seven to lead the Warriors.
Kaleigh Caulfield went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Amber Preble and Stephanie Clapp each had two hits for Valley (3-4).
Kristina Cain (2-for-4) and Megan Cole had two RBIs apiece for the Wildcats (0-4).
Wolcott Tech 17, Vinal Tech 14 >> At Torrington, Jasmyn Patterson went 4-for-5 and Donna Agogliati was 3-for-5 for the Hawks (1-5).
Platt 8. Middletown 7 >> Destiny West hit a game-winning three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Panthers Friday at Meriden.
Maddie Landry had two hits and two RBIs, Sara Gordon had a bases loaded single and Maddy Feshler had an RBI triple for the Blue Dragons (2-3).
Mercy 14, Lyman Hall 2 >> At Middletown, Emma Bonassar had four goals and two assists, and Casey Nelson had three goals and one assist to lead the Tigers.
Danielle Richardson (four assists) and Danielle Veronneau each had two goals, while Jessica Corcoran made nine saves for Mercy (4-3).
Summer Edeen and Carly Mantie scored goals for the Trojans (0-7).
Xavier 6, Branford 1 >> At Cromwell’s Watrous Park, the Falcons (3-2) swept all three doubles matches behind the tandems of Chris Hayes and James Rosborough, John Borea and Sam Sokolowski, and Jack Curran and Matt Ferris.
Tolland 6, Middletown 1 >> Kendar Seringdag and Chris Lane earned a doubles win for the visiting Blue Dragons (1-4) by outlasting Peter Miller and Jacob Burns, 5-7, 6-4 and 7-6 (5) at Tolland (3-0).
North Branford 4, Coginchaug 3 >> At Durham, Kyle Judson, Sam Temple, and Brian Jubelirer each had three-set singles wins for the Blue Devils.
Valley Regional 7, Morgan 0 >> At Deep River, Abby Wolff, Hannah Halsey, Jackie Stevens, and Maggie Klin rolled to straight set singles wins for the Warriors.
Law 5, Mercy 2 >> The Tigers (2-6) got doubles wins from the teams of Taylor Albert and Molly Garcia, and Kathryn Hanly and Presley Termini on Thursday at Milford.
Haddam-Killingworth 7, East Hampton 0 >> The host Cougars (4-3) were led by singles winners Reilly Fitzgibbons, Mackenzie Earley, Jen Halleck, and Allison Sheahan, and doubles winners Lex Regan and Gwen Plum, Hannah Casey and Mary Coletti, and Jackie Stephens and Allison Murphy.
Cheshire 3, Xavier 0 >> Trent Hager had 30 assists in the Rams’ 25-12, 25-22 and 25-19 SCC win Friday at Middletown.
