Naim Edens had 13 rebounds, Caylen Williams had 11 points and O’Brien Watson had 11 rebounds for Middletown (1-3). Jermaine Douglas had 13 points, while Alfonso Harrison and Reyes Rivera each had 11 points for Prince Tech (1-2).
Valley Regional 44, Hyde Leadership 42 >> At Deep River, junior guard David Bradbury scored the game winning basket on a layup with 1.5 seconds remaining to give the Warriors a victory Friday night in the opening round of the Shoreline-ECC Challenge Tournament. Bradbury had a game-high 18 points.unior forward Chris Jean-Pierre had 12 points and eight rebounds, while senior guard Jake Luster had 10 points for Valley (2-1), which outscored the Howling Wolves, 16-9, in the fourth quarter. Cameron Sells had 17 points and Chris Maddox had 14 points for Hyde (1-2).
The Shoreline-ECC Challenge, which features four recent state championship teams, continues at Valley Regional High School on Saturday. Valley Regional (2013 Class M champs) will meet Woodstock Academy (2013 Class L champs) in the finals at 7:15 p.m., and Hyde (2010 Class S champs) will meet Waterford (2012 Class M champs) in the consolation game at 5:30 p.m. Woodstock defeated Waterford, 56-52, in overtime on Friday.
Hale-Ray 73, Vinal Tech 55 >> Jason Traceski poured in a game-high 28 points and Craig Botteon (15 points) drained five 3-pointers to lead the Noises to a victory Friday night in the opening round of the Courtney Marineau Memorial Tournament at Moodus. Traceski also had 11 rebounds, while Andy Lochoski added eight points for Hale-Ray (1-2). Quinn Mitchell had 18 points, Curtis Anderson had 16 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks, and Anthony Gage-Smith had 10 points for the Hawks (1-3).
The Courtney Marineau Memorial Tournament continues on Monday, Dec. 30. Hale-Ray will meet Stafford in the finals at 7 p.m. Vinal Tech will play Sports Sciences in the consolation game at 5 p.m. Stafford defeated SMSA, 45-40, on Friday.
East Hampton 65, University 18 >> Meghan Orbann and Gyanna Russell each had 13 points to lead the host Bellringers to a win Friday night in the McCabe Holiday Tournament. Renee Radavich had 12 points and Sarah Massie added nine points for East Hampton (3-0). Zhane Newman had a game-high 17 points for University (2-2).
