Dalton Brown scored on touchdown runs of 20, 1, and 39 yards, and added one interception on defense to lead the Cougars (1-0) over the Tigers (0-1) in Hartford. SMSA scored one touchdown — a 13-yard pass from Devin Hill to Naseim Harrison in the first quarter — but was held scoreless by HK for the rest of the game, as the Cougar defense forced six turnovers, including four interceptions.

BRONX, N.Y.—Kenny Dyson caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Chris Gaine and returned an interception for another score as the King School football team opened its season with a 30-6 road victory over Fieldston Friday.

Mark Garavel and Matt Garavel each had three-yard TD runs while Chris Della Jacono (110 yards rushing) added a nine-yard touchdown jaunt for King (1-0). King led 6-0 after one quarter and 24-0 at halftime.

Levaughn Lewis averaged 50 yards on a trio of punt returns for the two-time defending NEPSAC Class C champ Vikings. King travels to Poly Prep Friday September 14 at 7 p.m.

“The young kids on both sides of the ball really stepped up,” King coach Dan Gouin said. “The coaching staff was pleasantly surprised at how well they played in a season opener.”
