Rob Bowman and Sean Goldrich will reminisce occasionally about Notre Dame-West Haven’s run to the 2009 Class L state title.
They talk about their heartbreaking loss to Xavier, the come-from-behind victory over Cheshire and, of course, the win over Pomperaug in the state final at a snowy, soggy Shelton High field.
“We were part of some crazy games,” Goldrich said. “It’s great to bring back those memories.”
But they still have time to make some more. The former high school teammates are adding to their memory banks.
Bowman and Goldrich play together at the University of New Hampshire. Bowman, a junior, is a two-year starter on the Wildcats’ offensive line. Goldrich, a sophomore, is New Hampshire’s starting quarterback.
Together they have helped lead the Wildcats to a 10th straight FCS playoff appearance. New Hampshire (9-4) will travel to Southeastern Louisiana (11-2) on Saturday at 7 p.m. (ESPN3) for a national quarterfinal game.
“It was a blast playing together in high school,” Bowman said. “Now we’re hoping to make another run on a bigger scale.”
