COVENTRY — Nick Pronovost returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown for the second-consecutive week and Jacob Carlson ran for a 70-yard score as Coventry/Windham Tech/Bolton/Lyman Memorial defeated Stafford/Somers/East Windsor 24-7 in a Pequot Uncas battle of unbeatens Friday night.
Pronovost, who returned the opening kickoff for a score vs. Gilbert/Northwestern last week, started this game the same way. He took the kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown for a 6-0 lead.
Coventry added Carlson’s long touchdown run to give the Patriots a 12-0 lead in the third quarter.
“We weren’t the better team tonight,” Stafford coach Brian Mazzone said. “Coventry did a great job against us. They are pretty good. But tonight I didn’t have my team ready and that’s my fault. I let my team down.”
Sean O’Connell and Jason Smith added touchdowns for Coventry (7-0). John Kopek led Stafford with 12 tackles, two for a loss, and a sack. Colton Engle finished with 148 yards on 20 carries and threw a touchdown pass to Jeff Kology in the third quarter.
Stafford fell to 6-1.

You have the scoring sequence wrong. Stafford was never ahead in the game. Coventry was up 12-0 before Stafford scored their TD.
OK, fixed.
Hats off to these boys, they’ve come along way
