DURHAM >> Ellington forced four turnovers and Tyrek Noel scored two, third-quarter touchdowns as Ellington defeated Coginchaug, 26-13, in a Pequot East Division game in Durham Saturday.
Noel carried the ball nine times for 169 yards and scored his touchdown runs from 50 and 69 yards out. Ellington improved to 2-0.
Down 7-0 early in the second quarter, Wellington Silva’s sparked Ellington’s rally with a fumble recovery. That set up Christian Rider’s 1-yard run to tie the game.
Rider later recovered a Coginchaug fumble and then hit Izaiah Castro-Vega with a 34-yard touchdown pass with 1:09 remaining in the first half to give the Knights the lead for good.
Parker Tregoning led Coginchaug (0-2) with 146 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. Connor Silva added a 3-yard touchdown run late.
