Lucas Niang, New Canaan’s standout 6-foot-7, 310-pound tackle, has committed to play at Texas Christian University. He made the announcement on Twitter Monday.
Niang anchored the left side of New Canaan’s three-time state championship line, which piled up yards and points thanks in part to his enormous presence and skill on the blind side.
He has been the most heavily recruited Connecticut player from the Class of 2016 and had the pick of the litter among NCAA FBS Schools.
Niang, who was named to the CHSCA All-State First Team, the Walter Camp All-Connecticut team and, most recently, to the New Haven Register All-State first team, had narrowed his choices to Miami, Auburn and TCU after taking visits over the last several weeks.
He made his decision public Monday afternoon.

Elsewhere, Greenwich’s Scooter Harrington, a New Haven Register second-team all-state pick who recently played in the Under Armour All-American Game at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla., switched his commitment from Boston College to Stanford.
Greenwich football made the announcement on social media Sunday night.
Harrington, a 6-foot-6, 242-pound tight end and defensive end, caught 24 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns and made 26 tackles and had four sacks this year. He was a CHSCA Class LL All-State selection.
Harrington was one the first Class of 2016 to make a commitment when he chose Boston College, his father’s alma mater, a year ago.
