The first morning of football practices saw the 11th Connecticut player to commit to an NCAA FBS (Division I-A) program. James Makszin, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound defensive tackle, committed to play at Temple, Bears coach Sean Ireland said.
Makszin, affectionately known as ‘Thor‘ by his classmaktes for his resemblance to the Norse God of Thunder, made four tackles a game, including five for a loss, and had five sacks for the Bears last season.
He also scored a 2-point conversion on a dive during the Thanksgiving Day game with rival McMahon.
He joins a recent list of commits including Windsor’s Jason Pinnock (Boston College) and St. Luke’s Omar Fortt (UConn).
