The CIAC has announced its list of 2015 spring football elections today.
Spring football teams are allowed to conduct practice for 10 days any time after Memorial Day, but must end before the end of the school’s academic year.
Only freshmen, sophomores and juniors are allowed to participate in spring practices. The first three days teams are required to hold conditioning practice without full pads. Athletes involved in spring sports must end their seasons before participating in spring football.
Teams that elect not to hold spring practices are allowed to begin fall practice four days earlier than spring teams.
- There are 60 programs signed up for spring football practice in 2015, down from 70 a year ago, and from 64 two years ago.
- There are 82 teams opting for additional days in the fall, up from 76 teams a year ago. The number is the same as two years ago.
Also: Preliminary schedules for the 2015 season must be submitted to CIAC by June 3. Official schedules will be announced shortly thereafter.
