CIAC TOURNAMENT PREVIEWS: STORYLINES | PREDICTIONS | TOP 10 | SCHEDULE / SCOREBOARD
Johnny Briody, Ridgefield
A huge reason why Ridgefield not only won the FCIAC regular season title, but also the tournament title over Trinity Catholic, the Tigers’ third in four seasons. There is no substitute for senior experience at this time of year and Briody has played in plenty of big games for the Tigers.
Ta’Zhon Daniels, Hillhouse
Speaking of senior guards, Daniels wants to cement his legacy as a one of the great point guards in Academics’ lore. With Trinity Catholic likely coming to New Haven for a second-round matchup, Daniels is going to need to be on his game if Hillhouse wants to advance deep into the tournament.
Peri Basimakopoulos, Shelton
Senior guard has been unstoppable in the second half of the season and his 25 points almost sent defending champion Wilbur Cross home in the SCC tournament quarterfinals. Basimakopoulos could be lethal in the Division III tournament.
Justin Davis, Crosby
The Bulldogs have been up and down all season long despite the play of their senior leader, who threw up his share of 30-point-plus games. Davis needs to be sharp and lead the others especially with a possible second-round game against West Haven and another strong guard in Malcolm Duncanson.
Cade Ensinger, Valley Regional
Can score, distribute and rebound. Helped the Warriors win 15 consecutive games. Now Ensinger will try to help the third-seeded Warriors make a deep run in Division V.
