TOURNAMENT PRIMER: SCOREBOARD | STORYLINES TO WATCH | TOP 10 POLL
Maria Hanchuk, South Windsor
The ace for the undefeated Bobcats in Class LL, Hanchuk is putting the finishing touches on an outstanding high school career. She posted a 0.50 ERA with 11 shutouts and a remarkable 238 strikeouts, closing in on 750 for her career. She’s also posted a .455 batting average with 30 hits at the plate.
Payton Doiron, St. Joseph
The junior pitcher for the Cadets is coming off a no-hitter in the FCIAC final against a dangerous Trumbull lineup, the fifth championship in six years for the school. She owns an ERA under 1.00 and her squad has a relatively straight-forward path to the Class L final. Doiron is also battle-tested after throwing shutouts over Cheshire and Masuk.
Mia Juodaitis, Cheshire
The leadoff hitter for one of the best clubs in the state has plenty of backup behind her, which forces opposing pitchers to deal with the Providence-bound senior. The perfect player to have during close-and-late situations.
Skyler Rapuano, Hale Ray
A run-producing machine with 129 career RBIs in four seasons, Rapuano is sitting on 165 career hits and batted over .600 this season. Always competitive in Class S, Hale Ray draws a potential tough matchup in St. Paul, but the URI-bound player gives her team a chance in any matchup.
MacQuarrie Stone-Folmar, ND-Fairfield
Hit 17 home runs and drove in 54 this season with an absurd 1.363 slugging percentage. All three numbers were tops in the state and she is just a sophomore. The Lancers are one of a dozen teams capable of winning Class M.
