In a game that saw senior midfielder Paige Finneran reach the 100-career goal milestone, the Greenwich High School girls lacrosse team topped host Westhill, 19-2, on Tuesday.
Finneran, who needed one goal to reach the 100 career goal mark, finished the game with two goals and one assist. She reached 100 goals early in the first half. Senior Grace Fahey reached and eclipsed the 100 career-goal plateau last week for the Cardinals.
“Paige has been a lynch pin on offense and defense for us,” GHS coach Rachel Vallarelli said. “She holds it down at midfield for us and has done a great job. The whole sideline was celebrating when she scored her 100th career goal.”
Fahey added to her career totals, registering two goals and six assists, while Katie Large had three goals and one assist for the Cardinals. Kate Loughran had four goals and one assist, while Leah Caputo tallied twice and Gabrielle Cerza had two goals and one assist.
Jennifer Kelly contributed two goals and one assist, while Emma Norton and Delaney Roth each added a goal for the Cardinals (5-6). Sloane Loveless and Hailey Hires combined to make four saves in the win.
“What was so impressive was how excited our team was when Paige scored her 100th goal,” Vallarelli said. “They are really close as a team and they support each other so well.”
