Eight people and one team will be inducted into the Hillhouse High Hall of Fame March 28 at the Foxon Country House.
The inductees are: William “Derk McCoy (1961), who starred in football and went on to have a long career for the New Haven police department; William Gray (1964), who starred in basketball and track and eventually played basketball at San Jose State; Tom Hunt (1959), who starred in football, basketball and track and field and went on to become both football coach and athletic director at West Haven High; Tobe Carberry (1996), who played basketball, football and baseball for the Academics, went onto play basketball at the University of Vermont and professionally overseas. He is currently an assistant men’s coach at Central Connecticut State University.
Also Monica Hargrove (2000), who was a standout track and field athlete and had a successful career at Georgetown. Hargrove has been a constant IAAF World Ranking Top 50 Runner; Mel Zeidenberg (1943), who starred in soccer and has coached and organized youth baseball in Westville for over 40 years; Frank Perrotti (1949), who starred in football; Eddie Wilson (1928), who starred in football, basketball and baseball and went on to have a brief Major League Baseball career with the Brooklyn Dodgers; and the 1958-59 boys basketball team, coached by Sam Bender, that won the school’s ninth and final New England Championship.
