Thatcher Danielson’s overtime goal lifted the Greenwich High School boys ice hockey team to a 3-2 win over La Salle Academy in a game held Saturday in Providence, R.I.
Danielson, a sophomore forward, scored the game-winning goal with the Cardinals on a power play with 3:26 remaining in overtime.
Senior forward Charlie Graves assisted on the game-winner. Matt Davey, a senior forward, gave the Cardinals a 1-0 lead, tallying at the 5:16 mark of the first period. Sophomore forward Jake Shredders and senior defenseman Isaac Cadigan each assisted on Davey’s goal.
La Salle Academy took a 2-1 lead with a pair of second-period goals. Senior defenseman Nic Pelletier-Martinelli tallied the equalizer for GHS with 16 seconds left in the second period. Freshman forward Wesley Zolin set Pelletier-Martinelli up for the game-winning tally.
Greenwich (8-8-2) visits FCIAC foe St. Joseph on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.
