Cross Country: Danbury boys, Glastonbury girls take over No. 1 spot in Week 6 Poll

The Glastonbury girls overtook the No. 1 spot in the CT XC Coaches Poll.

After a competitive and crazy league championship week, two new teams emerged as the new No. 1’s in the Week 6 Connecticut Cross Country Coaches Poll, released Tuesday morning.

The Danbury boys, which beat Staples by three points for the FCIAC Championship last Wednesday, tallied 99 points and four first place votes to take over the No. 1 spot heading into the class state championships.

The Amity boys, which won its second straight SCC title on Thursday, also received four first place votes, but only 98 points. Staples (96) slipped to third.

All three teams will compete against each other this Saturday in the Class LL state meet.

On the girls side, CCC champion Glastonbury, overtook the No. 1 spot with 142 points and nine first place votes. Tolland, the previous No. 1 for the last five weeks, fell to No. 2. with 136 points. FCIAC champ Ridgefield and Tolland each received three first place votes.
