BRANFORD — No. 6 seed Sheehan defeated No. 3 Branford 16-7 in an SCC girl’s lacrosse quarterfinal Saturday night.
Sheehan was led by the Crispens’ sisters, tallying eight goals between the two of them. Sophomore Mallory Crispens scored five goals and senior Carlee Crispens scored three.
“The Crispens are quite the duo,” Sheehan coach Charissa Zbikowski said. “Sisters always have a connection I find on the field. They work really well together, they trust each other and they both played amazing tonight.”
Sheehan advances to the SCC semifinals to play at No. 2 Guilford Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Sheehan lost earlier this season to Branford, the defending Class M state champion, 14-9.
With the score tied 2-2 early in the first half, Carlee Crispens scored to begin a five goal Sheehan run. Branford scored two more before Mallory Crispens put away her team’s eighth and final goal of the half.
Sheehan scored the first three goals of the second half to lead Branford 11-4.
The knockout blow came when Mallory and Carlee Crispens scored back to back goals to increase their team’s lead to eight goals.
