WELCOME BACK to another episode of ‘Courtside with Joe Morelli’ your weekly inside look into Connecticut boys basketball with GameTimeCT’s boys basketball beat writer Joe Morelli and sidekick Sean Patrick Bowley.
We dispense with the pleasantries in this, our seventh episode of the season, because — in a ‘Courtside’ first! — we welcomed Notre Dame-West Haven head coach and athletic director Jason Shea IN STUDIO for this week’s episode.
Shea and Notre Dame, of course, made waves by announcing their intention to start a postgraduate boys basketball program along the same vein as Woodstock Academy.
As discussed in a recent column by Jeff Jacobs — who was wholly behind the idea, as well — Shea discussed the decision, the reasoning behind it and the possible benefits and hazards that will inevitably come with taking such a giant leap, which will no doubt change the basketball landscape.
Oh, and Shea also gives us a glimpse at how his current varsity team is doing (quite well, thanks).
