Not surprisingly, the NISCA Girls High School Swimming All-America list includes numerous Connecticut athletes, one of whom is Greenwich standout Meghan Lynch.

A rising junior, Lynch earned All-American accolades in five events for the Cardinals, who like several squads were well represented on the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association All-America team.

Greenwich’s 200-yard medley relay squad of Samantha Ennis (rising junior), Lynch, Hannah Seward (rising junior) and Jenna Handali (senior this fall) earned all-America honors, posting a time of 1:45.15. They placed second in the event at both the State Open and the Class LL Championships.

Lynch was an all-American for Greenwich in the 200 individual medley. She posted an all-American/state-record time of 1:59.30 in winning the 200 IM title at the Class LL finals and also won the event at the 2018 State Open. Her time ranked 12th in the nation.

She also swam to all-America times in the 100 freestyle (:50.60, 86th in the nation) and 100 breaststroke (1:02.28, 33rd-ranked time in the nation). Lynch won the Class LL and State Open titles in the event this past fall.

Sydney Winters, a 2019 Suffield Academy graduate, posted an all-America time of 1:59.93 in the 200 individual medley, good for 19th in the nation. Winters will swim at Notre Dame in the fall.

Her performance of 1:03.25 in the 100 breaststroke was also an all-America qualifying time.

Greenwich Academy 2019 graduate Kate Hazlett recorded an all-America showing in the 50 freestyle (22.87 seconds, 23rd-ranked time in the country).

The Harvard University-bound Hazlett also notched all-America honors in the 100 freestyle (:50.17, 52nd time in the nation). Hazlett won the NEPSAC Division I title in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events during the winter season.

Marissa Healy, a 2019 Staples graduate, swam all-America times in two individual events. The Westport resident clocked in at 23.39 in the 50 freestyle (91st time in the U.S.) and swam a (54.91, 69th time) in the 100-yard butterfly.

Healy won the Class LL title in the 50 freestyle and was second at the State Open and took top honors in the 100 butterfly at the Class LL and Open competitions during her senior season for the Wreckers. She will continue her swimming career at Yale University.

The Greenwich Academy 200 freestyle relay squad of Avery Sammons (rising sophomore), Sophia Moore (rising senior), Claire Michalik (rising junior) and Hazlett combined for an all-America time of 1:36.21 at the NEPSAC Division I Championships. They helped GA win its third straight NEPSAC Division I team title.

Greenwich’s 400 freestyle relay team of Lynch, Handali, Emily Warner and Seward garnered the first-place medal at the 2018 State Open in an all-America time of 3:28.24 — ranked 61st in the nation.

Ridgefield’s Stephanie Bishop (rising junior), Rylie Giles (rising junior), Hannah Snyder (2019 graduate), Anna Turner (2019 graduate) were all-Americans in the 400 freestyle relay (3:29.67).
