Tess Stapleton of Fairfield Ludlowe and Terry Miller of Bloomfield had a pair of wins and Grace Hanrattty of Old Saybrook won the 1000 meters in the girls competition at the New England Indoor Track and Field championships at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday.
Hanratty won the 1000 in 2 minutes, 56.29 seconds. Right behind her was Cassandra Carleso of Plainfield in 2:56.56. Stapleton won the 55 hurdles in 8.19 and won the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 1.5 inches. Miller won the 55 dash (6.94) and won the 300 (39.27). Mari Noble of Greenwich was second in the 2 mile (10:55.26).
In the boys competition, Chet Ellis of Staples won the high jump (6-9) and Ja’Kwan Hale of Derby was seventh (6-5). Christopher Pigatt of Hamden was third in the 55 (6.50) and Miller Anderson of Hall won the 1000 (2:30.12). Trey Cormier of Hall won the 2 mile (9:14.76) and Robbie Cozean of Xavier was third (9:18.24).
Deshaune Poole of Hillhouse was fourth in the 300 (35.0), Malcolm Going of Danbury won the 600 (1:20.49) for the second straight year, Travis Martin of Wilbur Cross was fourth in the mile (4:17.02), and Michael Browning of RHAM was third in the shot put (59-0).
