PLAINVILLE — Shannon O’Meara scored 27 points and Bridget Sharnick added 19 to lead St. Joseph to a 61-39 victory over Enfield in the Class M girls basketball semifinals at Plainville High School.
With the victory, the 11th-seeded Cadets advance to their first state championship since 1979. They will face No. 4-seeded Cromwell, a 42-39 winner over Morgan, in the state championship at Mohegan Sun Arena either March 21 or March 22.
St. Joseph made 15 3-pointers and essentially put the game away with a 13-0 run in the first quarter. St. Joesph led by 16 points at halftime.
Mary Basketville led Enfield with 14 points. Danielle Delano added seven and Morgan Baskerville six.
